Fall Colors and Fall Tree cards

Today's color challenge from SCS is three beautiful colors (More Mustard, Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgundy).  I was inspired by my son, Jeremy, who was in the art studio yesterday doing color blocking.  I thought it would be a great way to showcase the gorgeous colors from today's challenge.  This is a quick, easy and fun card to make.  Hope you like.

"Fall Colors"

Stamps:  Leafless Limb Large (Stampscapes)
Paper:  Bravo Burgundy, Watercolor Paper (SU!); scrap paper for templates
Ink:  More Mustard, Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgundy, Early Espresso (SU!)
Accessories & Tools:  Nestabilities Rectangles, Big Shot, sponges, and sticky strips

I ran three pieces of scrap paper through my Big Shot with three different sizes of the Nestabilities Rectangles.  I used these as the templates, and sponged each rectangle a different color of ink onto a large piece of Whisper White cardstock, overlapping them slightly (reverse masking).

I stamped the Leafless Limb in Early Espresso ink over top of the color blocks and then mounted the front panel onto a card base of Bravo Burgundy.

Here's a second card for today using the same colors (I LOVE this combo!!).  This card has a sponged background (easy and fun to do!) and is made with all SU! products.

"Fall Trees"

Stamps:  Lovely as a Tree, Vintage Labels (SU!)
Paper:  Always Artichoke, More Mustard, Bravo Burgundy, Whisper White (SU!)
Ink:  Always Artichoke, More Mustard, Bravo Burgundy, Early Espresso (SU!)
Accessories & Tools:  post-it note for masking, sponges, Stamp-a-ma-jig, 1/4" Always Artichoke grosgrain ribbon, small oval punch, medium oval punch, small eye-makeup applicator sponge, adhesives and dimensionals

I ripped the post-it note edge and used it for masking the sky area.  I sponged Always Artichoke at the bottom.  I removed the mask.  I sponged More Mustard in the middle of the card, leaving some white space between the yellow and green.  I sponged Bravo Burgundy at the top, overlapping a little with the More Mustard sponging.

I inked the stamp with Early Espresso and used the Stamp-a-ma-jig to position the trees.  I used the small sponge to add some darker Always Artichoke ink along the "hills" at the bottom of the trees.

I mounted the stamped image onto a frame of Bravo Burgundy cardstock and then mounted it onto another thin frame of More Mustard.  I wrapped the Always Artichoke ribbon around the double-framed image and tied a knot off center.  The image is not the same ratio as the card base (Always Artichoke) ... it is wider.  So I weighted the image (leaving more space at the bottom and less at the top).

I stamped the sentiment in Bravo Burgundy ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punched out a small oval.  I then sponged on top of the sentiment with More Mustard ink to tie it in with the colors of the card.  I mounted it on a medium oval of Bravo Burgundy cardstock.

I mounted all the pieces as shown in the picture above, popping up the main frame and the sentiment.
