New Digs and Rainbow of Hearts

OK, so I subscribe to "Darlenedesigns.com" ... she has fabulous cards and does a video tutorial every week!!  Wow, that's dedication!

Her one last week was a pop-up card and I thought it was adorable and wanted to try one for myself.  Friends of Jer's are moving into their first place, so I made a "Congratulations on your new digs" card.  This is for Heather and Scott ... and Heather LOVES owls, so I had to go with that.  I used the latest digi release from Clear Dollar Stamps, designed by Lisa Lara - Hoot Hoots.  I tried to make it look like the owls were holding hands (wings), but not sure that comes across :)  I couldn't get a good photo of the inside, it looks so adorable in real life.  I included a close-up of the owls so you can see how cute they are.  Hope you like.

"Congratuations Heather & Scott"

And the inside:

Here's a close-up of the owls:

Stamps:  HootHoots (Lisa's Doodley Doos - Clear Dollar Stamps); ISC, Amy R
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Whisper White (SU!)
Ink:  Chocolate Chip (SU!)
Accessories & Tools:  Computer for digi stamp and sentiment; Big Shot, Woodgrain embossing folder (Tim Holtz - Sizzix), purple glitter brad, label punch, purple twine (The Twinery), purple half pearl, sponge, sticky strips, glue dots, and dimensional

The digi stamp of owls was printed on my computer (already colored), along with the sentiments ... I cut them out.

I ran three pieces of crumb cake cardstock through my Big Shot with the woodgrain embossing folder.  I sponged all the pieces with Chocolate Chip ink.

I created a pop-up card as per instructions from DarleneDesigns.com, making a square card.

Second card for today is for the Dare To Get Dirty Challenges ... the time is winding down --- tomorrow is the last day to post for these sets of challenges.  This card combines challenges from cookiestamper, mom2n2, and ardyth.  Hope you like.

"Rainbow of Hearts"

Stamps:  Vogue Abode, Word Salad (Paper Smooches)
Paper:  White, Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, Wild Wasabi, Tempting Turquoise, Pacific Point, Elegant Eggplant (SU!)
Ink:  Early Espresso (SU!)
Accessories & Tools:  Stamp-a-ma-jig, heart punch, glue, and dimensionals

The Vogue Abode stamp comes with a three-honeycomb stamp and I lined it up with my Stamp-a-ma-jig three times to create a line of nine honeycombs from Early Espresso ink.  I punched out the nine hearts and glued them inside the honeycombs.  I popped up the main panel with dimensionals to add depth.

Quick, easy and fun card to make!

  5. I'm not usually a fan of owls. Sometimes I find them kind of creepy, but these are adorable! I love their woodgrain home and will go over to Darlene's to see how to do it. And your rainbow of hearts is simply bright and beautiful!
