Hi everyone. I had so much fun making this card. Quick and easy ... but I love the way it turned out. The photo doesn't do it justice ... so much better IRL. I used a copper sheet and heated it with my butane torch until it changed colors (pink, orange, copper, etc.) ... and then mounted the copper in-behind my card front with the negative die-cut from Poppy Stamps (Lorelai Outline Leaf). I kept the outline die in place, securing the bottom of the stem only, and pulled the top branches forward to give the card some depth. A simple sentiment stamped in black finished the card.
I'm entering this into two challenges ... Paper Players #120 (Give Thanks) ... and SCS CAS Challenge (#195 - pinterest photo inspiration). The photo is of fall leaves, so this is a very loose interpretation.
Here's a photo from a different angle which shows the depth created by pulling the outline die forward.
Paper: White (C.C. Designs)
Ink: Basic Black (SU!)
Accessories & Tools: Big Shot, Lorelai Outline Leaf die (Poppy Stamps), copper metal sheet .005 thickness (K&S Precision Metals), butane torch, tape, sticky strips, and dimensionals
Beautiful card Loli gorgeous colour and a lovely technique

WOW Loll. I've never heard anyone use a butane torch for card making... but... if it has results like this, I might have to try it! :-) That copper is gorgeous. I love all the white space, the cut out and the technique. Fabulous!

Okay, apparently I'm the only one ROFL, Loll. I just love your attitude about your beautiful cards. You should have a TV show. "Now, today, ladies we are going to make a quick and easy card. First, remove your pearls and slip into your lovely mauve HASMAT suit, light up your butane torch, and - oh, sorry, Mary Ellen, do put on your asbestos gloves. Now ...
ReplyDeleteI must be punchy from work or somethng. I just never thought I'd see "quick and easy" and "butane torch" used in the same card blog paragraph!
In spite of the giggle, once again your card is absolutely breathtaking and clever and unique and yummy. Bless you and bless Pinterest!
