Thinking of you at Christmas

Hi everyone.  I made this card for my good friend, Peggy.  We met through SCS and share an obsession for card making (as most SCS members do!).  Peggy's cards are absolutely breathtaking!  Intricate designs with lots of dies, embossing and texture ... so elegant and sophisticated.  I am always inspired when I see her creations.  And Peggy always takes the time to leave me lovely comments on my cards ... so appreciated!  I wanted to make her card CAS ... and ended up with super CAS :)  Hope you like.

Stamps:  Beautiful Season (SU!)
Paper:  White (Neenah); Basic Black, Old Olive (SU!)
Ink:  Old Olive
Accessories & Tools:  Big Shot, Antique Lamp Post die (Poppy Stamps), Pine branch punch (McGill), green glitter glue, red embroidery floss, Stamp-a-ma-jig, emery board, glue, and glue dots

As I do with a lot of my die-cut, I cut out three layers of the lamp post and glued them together to create a very thick die.  I find that some dies cut cleaner than others.  Because this is such a thin die, there were a lot of edges that weren't smooth and clean, so I used an emery board to smooth them out (I did this before gluing the layers together).

Here's a close-up of the lamp post:

  4. So so uber CASlicious, Lolly! Sorry if I've asked you before or you just had it on your blog, but what glue do you use to glue your impossibly thin and flimsy and intricate dies, like this one, together? A glue stick? A spray? Thanks!! Dolly

    1. Hi Dolly, I use the multi-purpose glue from Stampin' Up! ... it works so well and a little goes a long way. Just add tiny dots of glue along the die and hold it for a few seconds and voila! Also find there's a few second where you can move the dies around and line them up before the glue starts to stick.

  9. I find that putting a layer of waxed paper between the die and paper makes for a great and clean cut.
