Hi everyone. Today's card is for a couple of challenges: Inkspirational is a new challenge blog and their very first challenge is running right now. It's a colour challenge : black, kiwi, dark pink. Fabulous colour combination ... bold and bright.
And today's card is also for Splitcoast Stamper's "Ways To Use It" Challenge (WT408 - New Year, new toys!) ... use something new that you got for Christmas. I just got the rolled daisy die from My Favorite Things ... love it! Used two to create a large daisy for today's card from one of my favorite papers ... Melon Mambo polka-dot! I do love the polka-dot papers from SU!
Just realized that this also qualifies for this week's CAS-ual Fridays challenge (CFC84 - thank you). And, this week's Simon Says Challenge - Something new. Whoo hoo!
For some reason, maybe it was the angle of my camera ... but the daisy looks so big in comparison with the rest of the card ... and it looks like it's falling off the flourish :) Not so ... in real life it looks like just the right-sized daisy and is firmly planted on the flourish ... don't you love photography??!!
Stamps: Sweet Sentiments (Amy R)
Paper: White (C.C. Designs); Melon Mambo, Starfruit, Melon Mambo polka-dot DP (SU!)
Ink: Black, Kiwi Kiss (SU!)
Accessories & Tools: Big Shot, Fanciful Flourish die (Cheery Lynn), Rolled Daisy die (My Favorite Things), 1 1/4" punch, glue, Stamp-a-ma-jig
I punched a 1 1/4" circle from the Melon Mambo cardstock to use as my base for my flower. I die-cut two of the rolled daisies from the Melon Mambo polka-dot DP, gluing one around the outside edge of the circle, moving slightly inwards as I went. The second daisy was rolled (I use tweezers to hold the end and then twirl), and then glued in the middle to fill it in. I sponged the edges of the flourish to give it more depth.
Easy and fun card to make.
Here's a close-up of the daisy:

One quick note ... thanks to Linda and Deb for giving me some advice on my image uploading problems. Turns out that Blogger no longer likes my version of Internet Explorer ... so I may have to give in and change to Google Chrome as my default web browser. It bugs me a little that Goggle is so proprietary ... it should work with IE ... but it won't as long as I'm using Windows XP. So there you go. It's a fight between Microsoft and Google ... for now Google is winning :)
Loll this large daisy mixed with the flourish die looks great and I like it being oversized like this. Thanks for joining us at Inkspirational
ReplyDeleteSpectacular...Loll - love the flourish, as if to say "Starring Daisy"
ReplyDeleteWell as far as the blog challenges, at least you know...there is a reason for the issues, and the ever changing technology is always a challenge. I'm sure you'll succeed.
Loll this card is gorgeous! You hit my CAS sweet spot with this design. That daisy is really beautiful! Thanks for joining us at Inkspirational this week!

As always, this is a gorgeous CAS card Loll!
ReplyDeleteAnother stunner, Lolly, and lots more things for my Wish List, which I started new in 2013 and which is already on page 3. I'm such a pig.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the head's up on Blogger, both yesterday and today. Just now I took your yesterday's advice and inserted my photo through HTML, still a pain.
I was afraid what you said now is what was happening. I will put Mister on it, but I think you are right, they are forcing us to Google Chrome. Right now I'm not liking Google Chrome because you can't click back into commenters blog posts from the comments. Ugh.
I guess you and me were both out shopping that day they called to ask us what we want!
Hugs,
Dolly
Such a beautiful Daisy!!And the Fanciful Flourish is just sooo pretty!!! Isn't it fun? Entering challenges, and meet a new challenge trying upload your images? been there, done that... Chrome won. Thank you so much for joining us at Inkspirational this week, hope you join us again for our next challenge :)
ReplyDeleteLisbeth
you need to do a turtorial of how to make that flower. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI had way to much trouble with all that so I use FireFox as my web and Image Writer to create all my posts.. they auto download to my blog. With just a little bit of house cleaning I have no problems with my images.
So glad you found Inkspirational! Your card is stunning! I LOVE that flower and foliage is just perfect. Great use of the colors!

Love your Mambo daisy Loll - the whole card is so elegant. I have Windows XP and use Mozilla Firefox which works well with Google but have been talking about moving over to Chrome.......but a bit like you don't want yo give in to Google - it's a bit like Apple dominating half (or more of) the world!
