Golden Christmas

Hi everyone.  I've been on a roll lately making cards ... maybe because playing distracts from my job of cleaning out my studio :)  I did manage to empty out the closet of the room, piling everything on the bed in the guest room.  Yikes! ... the bed is covered with STUFF ... of which half is probably stuff I don't use.  Next I need to got through it and actually get rid of things ...

On to the card.  This is for the latest challenge at Merry Monday (#90 - use ribbon or twine).  Such a great group of talented ladies and I had fun being on the Design Team last year.  LOVE the inspiration photo!  And it's great to get a head start on my Christmas cards for next year ... why don't you come play along?! :)

I used some patterned papers from Bo Bunny and my blooming poinsettia die to create an elegant Christmas card.  I stamped "Peace" in black, but because it was on the patterned paper, it looks more charcoal gray.  Some gold sheer ribbon with bow finishes the card.

One other quick note ... I mentioned a while back that I was hoping to get a light box made to help improve my card photos.  My friend Susan had purchased a kit through a local photo supply company and mentioned it to me ... such a good deal and not worth the expense or time to make one ourselves, I jumped in and bought it.  It's was a great little unit, but the photos weren't much different, so I'd rather take the space that the light box would have used, and use it for something else.  It was a good experiment, though, and glad I tried it.

ETA:  I just saw that this qualifies for the Jingle Belles challenges - Something old and something new.  I used my poinsettia die that I've had for a couple of years, along with some pretty patterned paper that I just bought.

Stamps:  Peace (Anita's)
Paper:  White, Gold foil, Silver & Gold Collection (Bo Bunny)
Ink:  Black
Accessories & Tools:  Big Shot, Blooming poinsettia die (Poppy Stamps), Gold sheer ribbon (creative packaging), gold stickles, glue, adhesives and dimensionals

So gorgeous in gold. It's splendiferous!!!! I need to do what you're doing with my craft room....so many things I don't use. Why do I try holding on to them? Ugh!

Another stunner in this amazing gold. Loved the patterned paper you placed this beauty on, and the sheer ribbon..perfection! Thanks for the info on the light box. Gosh, I was hoping that a light box would do wonders for my photography! Yours is good just as you've been doing the photos, but mine are not! TFS & happy weekend.

Such a lovely card. I finally got that poinsettia die just recently but I'm not one to make Christmas cards all through the year, so I probably won't get to try it until next fall or later. :)

I bought a light box and I while can't say I've really "practiced" taking pictures of my cards using it, I have to say that so far I really don't care for the results I get. The first problem I've found is that my colors are not correct in the photos when I use the box. I'm not the best photographer and I know nothing about editing photos, but I do have a good camera and get pretty good pictures without the light box. I just thought it would make them even better. Very disappointing and I have had it too long to return it. :(

I have always admired your photography as well as your cards. I'm just to lazy to make a nice scene so I don't post much. Maybe should this new year! Thanks for the gorgeous gold card inspiration, Loll.

That's what I call a Poinsettia! I'm in awe of the elegance of this card...the flower, all the gold, and your gorgeous bow, Loll! Really stunning creation!

I use a light box, but only if I don't have good natural light at the moment, since it works better for me. Also, the editing program you use makes a difference. I recently started editing my photos at Picmonkey, and even with the light box, they seem to look better. Personally, I think light boxes are not 'all that great'...Well, at least you tried, right?

Stunning card Loll, The gold poinsettia is gorgeous, just love your style!!
And you remind me that I must get to cleaning out my room as well, time to purge and get rid of what I don't use anymore!!!

And I also agree about the photo tent, I made one once and still have it, but I found my pictures to not be any better, I have a good camera and felt the pictures were good enough, so it is just a dust collector now, probably headed for the garbage can!! Have fun with the rest of your cleaning!!

Beautiful Loll-and very classy :)
Ah,the light box-I have been mulling the idea over too-I see so many beautiful photos in Blogland-with lovely backdrops and bright crisp piccies which make my photos look-well,rather boring LOL! Have heard a few crafters now who have bought a light box and not liked it-so I think I will have to have a play with something else-see what I can come up with!
Have a lovely day,Hugs,Nessa xx

Stunning, love all the gold Loll. I had heard that about a light box and with the little space I have, didn't bother getting one either!!

This is stunning Loll - love the backing paper with that gorgeous poinsettia and fab ribbon. Your cards always are photographed beautifully so not sure why you opted to try the light box - on saying that I've got one but unless you keep it out permanently (and so take up valuable crafting space) it's a bit of a faff to keep setting up.
