Love Grows

Hi everyone.  Time for a new challenge at Addicted to CAS.  This time, the challenge is being run by the very talented Sylvia (Poppy's Papercraft Patch), and she chose this word ...

Prize:  Rubber Stamp Set "It's All About You"
(please follow the rules to be eligible to win)

Now, I only used one wheel on my card ... so hope that's OK with Sylvia! :)

I inked the wheelbarrow with my gray marker and stamped.  I used my blender pen to add more ink to the wheelbarrow, masked it with a post-it note and then stamped leaf sprigs and flowers (yellow, red and purple) using generation stamping.  I removed the mask and stamped a few leaf sprigs that are falling over the side of the wheelbarrow and a few of the red flowers as well.  I like the watercolored look.

The sentiment is from a Fiskars set I had bought a while back from my local $1 store (it was $3.00 for the whole set).  I have several of these clear stamp sets, but find I don't always get a crisp and clean stamp from them so didn't use them very much.  Then I watched a video by Darlene Devries (DarleneDesign.com) ... where she describes having the same trouble and how she fixed this problem.  She places the stamp on her acrylic block, figures out where she wants it on her card, places a Stamp-a-ma-jig against the block, inks and stamps.  She lifts up her stamp, leaving the stamp-a-ma-jig in place, and re-inks and stamps again if necessary.  I did that today and it worked perfectly.  Thanks for the great tip Darlene!!  By the way, if you haven't checked out Darlene's blog, please do so if you have time ... she does a video each week showing how she makes her cards.  I have learned a lot from her!

This is the last challenge of March ... which means we have to bid fond farewell to our March Guest Designer ... Karen.  Thanks so much Karen for joining us this month ... we've really enjoyed having you on our Design Team!!! :)

As always, our challenge is open for two weeks so there's lots of time to play along.  Please check out the challenge for Addicted to CAS - Wheels ... and see all the wonderful cards from the rest of the Design Team.

I knew I needed a Stamp-a-ma-jig as soon as I saw someone using it a few years back. It's also very useful if you need exact placement for rubber stamps. Love the soft colours of your card with the pop of red of the sentiment.

Love your wheelbarrow Loll and I am sure Sylvia will forgive only one wheel!!! lol You've got such a lot of dimension on the wheel and the flowers look great tumbling over. Thanks for the link to Darlene - just popping over to have a look.

This is really lovely Loll. I like that you inked it in gray first. I always think I have to use black! The gray makes everything blend so nicely together. Beautiful flowers too!

Perfectly appropriate! :)

So beautiful. I love the soft water color look of your stamping. I'm a huge Darlene fan, she does great videos! Have you ever tried the rubber eraser trick with stamps that don't stamp correctly? Use a clean eraser and go through the whole surface of the stamp (maybe some extra attention there where it stamps the worst). Then stamp and see if this has helped anything. :) This has "cured" some of my stamps that don't work well.

Lovely spring card! Makes me want to get out and garden but it's too chilly and damp today. Thanks for the tip about the clear stamps. I just signed up for Darlene's blog as someone referenced a great video she did on doing great backgrounds with stencils and distress markers.

Hi Loll - this is a beautiful take on the Code Word. The colouring is fabulous, as always, and I absolutely love your choice of image and sentiment.

PS: One wheel is definitely allowed! (maybe not on a bus though).

Oh I love this card Loll! I love that wheelbarrow and the pretty flowers-it has that watercolor look that everyone is doing and that I just love. I watch Darlene too and she has great video's. I love her tips and this one she did was a fabulous one. Because I know I have cheap clear stamps that don't give the crisp impression that it should. Hugs
