Crackled Autumn Leaves

Hi everyone.  Time for the next ATS&M challenge (#114 - CAS).  Yay!! :)

Today's card was inspired by this beautiful card by my teammate Julie ... isn't it gorgeous??!!  I used leftover leaves from my video tutorial from yesterday.  As I mentioned, I filmed the tutorial three times before posting it ... which means I have LOTS of watercolored autumn leaves left to use. :)

I know these leaves don't look CAS, but if you watched my video, you'll see that I watercolored them in under 5 minutes --- so not a lot of time to make this card.  To change them up, I coated these two with Clear Rock Candy Crackle Paint from Tim Holtz.  I just bought this ... and was excited to give it a try.  One thing I learned, I was chintzy with my first coat and didn't add enough ... so with the second coat, I slathered it on ... way too much :)  I've learned what not to do for next time :) lol!

Here's a close-up ...

Because the leaves are aged looking with the brown edges and the crackle finish, they looked too stark on white woodgrain, so I just sponged over top of the embossing with Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy distress inks.  Then I took my Vintage Photo DI and lightly stroked the ink pad across the top to catch the high spots of the embossing.  Love how it turned out.

I'm going to enter this into the latest challenge at Paper Players which is being run by my friend, Jaydee (Paper Players #214 - Masculine Birthday Card).  And into the challenge at Clearly Besotted (#13 - Autumn / Halloween).

I hope you'll check out the ATS&M challenge HERE and see the amazing creations from the rest of the Design Team.  And hope you'll join in this fun challenge with us! :)

Amazing Loll. The crackle medium really changes those lesves up and perfect against the background. I reckon our minds must be going along the same lines.......I've just ordered some crackle medium! How strange is that eh?

I want to touch this card Loll!! The texture is wonderful and that paint gives a real feeling of the leaf cracking...I can hear it now! I think the way you have designed the card the leaves can be CAS as they are the focal point against a CAS design x

What a beautiful card Loll, I feel privileged to have inspired such a beauty. The texture is stunning in contrast to the white base card and I agree the DIs were an inspired choice. I love the crackle effect, must investigate this new product to me! Yummy. :)
