Flowery Birthday

Hi everyone.  Today's card is for the current Muse Challenge #83 ... where the Muse is my very talented friend, Vicki Dutcher.  I'm not really one to use angled panels, but Vicki's card inspired me to give it a try ... and I used a template that my friend Nancy had sent me many months ago.  Thanks to both for encouraging me to give this a try.

Vicki's inspiration card

I watercolored the background, following the technique from Dina Kowal (here's a link to Dina's video tutorial).  I love making these fun and easy watercolored backgrounds ... not that it was easy UNTIL I saw Dina's tutorial ... then it all clicked - thanks Dina! :)

I stamped the flowers with Archival Black ink and then watercolored in shades of pink (inspired by Vicki's card again).  I stamped a big sentiment onto vellum and heat embossed in white ... love how this turned out!

ETA:  I just saw a new challenge blog for AAA Cards ... where the current challenge is CAS with Watercoloring - #18 ... so I'm going to enter there as well.

Stamps:  Night and Day Flowers (Hero Arts); The Big, the Bold and the Happy (Winnie and Walter)
Paper:  White (Neenah); Watercolor (Tim Holtz)
Ink:  Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Rose Red, Raspberry Ripple (SU!); Black ink (Archival by Ranger); Versamark
Accessories & Tools:  water brush, paint brush for splattering, White embossing Powder (Hero Arts), heat gun

Challenge:
Muse #83
AAA #18

I've never done an angled panel either Loll, but I love the look. Your card turned out beautiful, I love your background, your flowers are watercolored so pretty and they just jump off the page. Love your sentiment embossed on the vellum too. Hugs, Brenda

Stunning flowers and the background is absolutely eye-catching! Thank you for the link to Dina's video - which I watched and thoroughly enjoyed. I tried my hand at creating a background...let's just say much, much more practice needed. I think it's all about the paper (Canson on my wish list!).

Just beautiful and the background colouring is amazing. I'm only just getting the courage to watercolour, hopefully one day I will be able to create something as gorgeous as this!
