Hi everyone. Welcome to Day Four of my "Twelve Tags of Christmas" Event. The time is just flying by. :) I'm thrilled with all the wonderful entries so far ... beautiful Christmas tags made by talented crafters!!
There's still lots more days to come for this event. Each of those days, I will be posting two mixed media Christmas tags (one made by me; one made by a friend). We hope you'll be inspired to make some tags of your own! Come join in the fun and link up your Mixed Media* Christmas tags below.
* For this event, Mixed Media is defined as stamps + ink, plus two other elements which add texture and/or dimension.
Tag #4
Here's how I made Tag #4:
A few drops of gold acrylic paint was added to clear gel medium and a layer was spread over top of a star stencil. The tag (2 1/8" x 3 5/8") was then sponged in two shades of brown distress inks (all over with Antique Linen; and then around the edges with Brushed Corduroy). Two white trees were cut and glued to the right hand side of the tag, off-set with one slightly over the edge for interest. Two pieces of white card stock were ripped to create the layers of snow at the bottom with the sentiment stamped on top. The deer has been sponged with the same colors as the background (Antique Linen and Brushed Corduroy). A satin-finish star charm was added to the top with a ball-chain hanger. Cherry Cobbler seam binding was used for the ribbon ... it was misted with water, scrunched up, dried and then unfolded to create lots of texture at the top of the tag.

Today's special Guest Designer is Nancy. We met at SCS when we were both on the CAS Design Team in 2010 and have been friends ever since. Nancy is a constant source of inspiration for me! She doesn't have a blog, so I'm including a link to her tag in her gallery at SCS where you can find all the info on how she made this beautiful tag. I hope you'll take some time to look around her gallery ... lots of amazing creations. FYI, you will only be able to leave comments for Nancy on her SCS gallery if you are a member ... so if you aren't, please feel free to leave a message for Nancy on this post ... I'll make sure she sees it! :)
Here's Nancy's fabulous tag ....
Wow!! Love this new technique ... thanks so much Nancy! :) xx

Love the gold starry tag!! The deer and the trees are perfectly balanced, and the red ribbon and sentiment add a great bit of colour. I love Nancy's tag too with that great technique of embossing the branches in white and then adding alcohol markers over it so that they looked dusted with snow.

ReplyDeleteWOW! Two absolutely fabulous looks. I am loving the way you handled that gel with the gold added. Really looks super against the golden background with the pretty tree & deer. So much dimension. Nancy's pine bough is just gorgeous as well. I am really liking the way she placed the pinecones, and used the stamp design to create that fancy ornament. So very pretty. TFS (I have 2 tags gesso'd - ready to go - if I can get to it! ) TFS & Hugs
