Watercolour Spritz


Hi everyone.  Sorry I haven't been around much this week.  I have a virus that has overstayed it's welcome. :(  Hoping to kick this thing soon!

I'm back with another reminder that there is a new CAS challenge at Happy Little Stampers ... and it runs for the whole month of January.





The card above uses the Watercolour Spritz technique.  It's not hard to do, but there is a bit of a learning curve to figure out how much water to mist on your inked stamp before stamping onto the watercolour paper.  Getting some practice helps with that. :)

I inked up my rubber stamp using markers, spritzed with water a few times and then stamped onto dry watercolour paper.  I hold the stamp down for a few seconds so the watercolour paper absorbs the diluted ink.  Then remove the stamp and let it sit and dry for a while.  The image changes quite a bit as it dries ... and it looks as though you've watercoloured the image by hand.  So pretty!

For the card above, I used a post-it note mask to keep the area just below my stamped flowers clean.  I also die-cut the flower box from watercolour paper and used the same inking and misting of leaves, stamping them on both the background of my card and the w/c paper flower box die-cut.  To give the sentiment a watercoloured look, I inked it with my marker and then lightly touched it in spots with my waterbrush and then stamped.

    Congratulations on having one of your cards used on Craftsy.com - it's a beauty and really illustrates their tutorial well. And I love today's card - makes me think of the lavender that grows in my garden which gets me looking forward to spring!

    Not at all surprised that you were featured in a magazine. Heck, I think you should have your OWN magazine with all your marvelous cards. Of which this would be one of them. Love the softness & spiky look to these flower stems peeking out from the windowbox. Beautiful. Hope you soon send that virus packing. Take care of you and get lots of rest. Hope the crafting is therapeutic and helps you feel better. TFS & Big hugs. (PS..I enjoyed my very limited play with the Brushos. Can't wait to get time to venture forth again, see what messes I can make! Fascinating to watch the color spread).

    Love, love, love this! I've never been able to ink, spritz and stamp and get it to look anything like an image. I need to keep trying. Love how you've stamped the leaves on the window box!

    Loll, you are one of my favorite Stampers, and I'm SO glad that you posted this card with the SUO keyword over on SCS, so I saw it right away. I'd LOVE to participate in this watercolor CAS challenge. And in fact have a focal panel flattening as I type this. I got sick the day after Christmas with Influenza A, pneumonia and a double ear infection. I was feeling a bit better after 2 weeks in bed, stamped a few cards the other day and now I have a nasty cold and I wasn't even really over the flu yet!! Anyway, all that to say I'm glad the deadline is the end of the month. I might be able to make a couple cards! If you choose to reply to this, use this aol email as I don't use gmail.
