Hi everyone. Today is the start of the July Sketch Challenge at Happy Little Stampers. Not only is there a fun and easy sketch to play with this month, but we also have our new Design Team starting today. Check out the challenge HERE to see the amazing cards from our talented group of card makers! :) Kylie and I are excited to be joined by Asa, Birgit, Gloria, Joyce, Kim, Melissa, Sue and Tanja. Welcome ladies!!
Here's the sketch ...
So easy, right??!! I know I'll be using this sketch A LOT! :)
I started my card by spraying with yellow watercolour spray for the background. It's a very bright yellow, so I randomly sprayed and then blotted up right away with a paper towel to tone down the colour just a bit. To me it looks like sunshine behind the flowers. :)
Then I stamped my image in waterproof black ink ... several times using my Misti. This is the best stamping tool EVER! It's really difficult to get a clean, dark impression on watercolour paper, and this allowed me re-ink and stamp several times.
I put a few drops of my watercolour liquid concentrate (orange and magenta) into a paint palette and added a little water. I happily sloshed over top of my flowers, giving them a two-tone colouring. I took the same two colours and splattered the background to add interest. To finish off, I added gold liquid pearls to the centers of the flowers, and stamped the sentiment onto a small, white banner.
Our sketch challenge is open all month, so there's lots of time to play along. Come join in the fun! :)
Stamps: Blossom Bunch (Stampendous)
Ink: Archival Black (Ranger); Watercolour Liquid Concentrate in orange and magenta (Dick Blick)
Accessories & Tools: Yellow w/c spray (Dick Blick), paintbrush, gold liquid pearls

Gorgeous card Loll!
The colours and flowers are so beautiful!
xx
Such a fun bunch of flowers!
You've given me more inspiration on using those flowers, Loll. The background is beautiful for showing them off. May I ask what waterproof ink you're using? I've been playing with my Zig brush pens and having trouble with bleeding. I know I can clear emboss but don't want to all the time.
I always use Archival ink by Ranger ... it's waterproof and works great with watercolouring. Staz-on would work as well. xx
Beauty!
Such a beauty! The background really sets off those gorgeous flowers, Loll! Love the colors!
