Hi everyone. Today is my mom's 87th birthday! :) Happy Birthday Mom!! Yesterday the family gathered at her place for a birthday celebration. I think she had a great time seeing her grandchildren and spouses, plus three of her six great-grandchildren. It was a lot of fun! :)
For Christmas, my sweet friend Hazel (My Card Attic) sent me a gorgeous stamp set from Altenew called Watercolor Wonder. This is my first time inking it up. I wanted something really special for my mom's birthday card, and these images are so pretty. Thanks again Hazel!! :)
I googled the stamp set just to see what other people had done with it. It has many different flowers with layering stamps and I have never tried that before. I found this gorgeous card by Tasnim. I had to try CASEing it (copy and share everything). Mine didn't turn out as "watercoloured" looking as Tasnim's ... I tend to have a heavy had when adding colour. :) But I'm happy with how it turned out.
I inked up the large flower with light pink distress ink, spritzed with water and stamped onto my watercolour paper. I quickly inked up the next layer of petals, spritzed with water and stamped on top while the one underneath was still wet. The colours blended so well. I did the same for the leaves with two shades of green and once it was completely dry, I stamped the yellow center.
I used a NBUS sentiment set from Penny Black and stamped in black, then mounted the piece onto a black card base.
Thanks for coming by!
Stamps: Watercolor Wonder (Altenew); Heartfelt (Penny Black)
Paper: Black card base (SU!); Watercolour card front (Arches 140 lb. cold press)
Ink: Distress Inks: Worn Lipstick, Ripe Persimmon, Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, Mustard Seed (Tim Holtz); Memento Black
Accessories & Tools: Water spray, black permanent marker to add dots to the center.
Amazing card and as the sentiment says Fabulous! I love it, the intensity of colour is beautiful. I am sure your Mum must have been delighted.

ReplyDeleteIt turned out beautifully Loll and it certainly looks watercoloured to me! Soft and fabulous and reminds me of the French Impressionist paintings that I have seen! I bet your dear mum, loved it . . . and her day with the family! Have a great week my friend! Hazel xx

ReplyDeleteYour flower is just gorgeous Loll - whatever you did - worked wonderfully!! and a Happy 87th to your lovely mum too! I bet she loved the card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet Hazel, and this is one gorgeous stamp set. I think the flower looks gorgeous with the heavier w/c you've applied. It looks very tropical and much like the shades we had when living in South Florida. You did a wonderful effort with this and if you'd had more water, it would have been too pale (maybe?). Anyway, this looks perfect as it, and Hazel will be thrilled to see you used her gift to make such a pretty look for your Mom's special day. I hope she had a wonderful birthday. TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the colors on this stunning card!
ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday to your mom, Loll! Such a GORGEOUS work of art...yes, that's how I would describe this stunning card! I love how the colors blended, and how you stamped your sentiment! I'll bet your mom loves it too, and will cherish this card for a long time to come!

ReplyDeleteLoll, this is absolutely wonderful and I'm betting that your mom loved it too!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Loll. You do such a good job with spritzing. Maybe I should try that with some of my layered flowers as I never get a good stamp image as is.
