Hi everyone. I've had a lot of time to play in the studio this week. I hope you're not getting tired of seeing my posts! :)
I have made a few cards lately with acetate smooshing. LOVE this technique that I saw in a video by Laura Bassen. It's basically smooshing with a bit of control. And I do love to be in control. :)
I decided to see if I could acetate smoosh with inka gold ... and I could! :) I'm happy with how this turned out. This is done on mixed media paper, which I think looks the best, but it also works on regular card stock.
I have had this umbrella die for YEARS ... and I'm pretty sure it's the first time it's made it onto a card. So I'm heading over to Darnell's NBUS Challenge #6. And since there's a spring-themed challenge at Time Out, I'm heading there as well. Plus I used a snippet of smooshed background and silver card stock for the umbrella, so going to play at the Snippets Playground.
This is another example of a CAS Mix Up card that fits the March challenge - Watercolouring. I used stamping, Inka Gold acetate smooshing and Inka Gold smooshing (umbrella); plus heat embossing (sentiment). A lot going on in this little card that is very CAS. :) Hope you'll join us! :)

This is beautiful (AGAIN!) Loll.
ReplyDeleteBeen trying smooshing tonight - was pleased with two efforts except now have made a mess stamping a sentiment on one..... have turned away trying to think of a rescue otherwise the bin beckons!! (might be cut into squares yet!). x
Your acetate-smooshed background turned out beautifully, Loll. Love those soft splatters.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty with the Inka gold. I would not have thought of it! The shine is just lovely for a card!
ReplyDeleteHappy with it? Happy doesn't cover it...it's absolutely amazing, Loll! That acetate smooshed background is so gorgeous...love those controlled splatters! And that umbrella is fantastic! LOVE!!!

LOVE everything about this CAS beauty Loll! Especially the colors and that umbrella...think I have an umbrella die somewhere that's never been used either! I just received my first jar of the Inka Gold on Thursday and have had SO much fun playing with it! Stay tuned on Monday for my first post to the CAS Mix Up using the Inka Gold!! :0)
ReplyDeleteWow, such shimmery loveliness, Loll ... the brolly is amazing ... gorgeous against the smooshy raindrop background! So happy to have you playing along with us again at Time Out! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteLove this .... the shimmer is just beautiful! Glad to know the Inka Gold smooshes well with the acetate technique. xx
ReplyDeleteSimply Beautiful Loll. Love your colors, smooshing and Faux Mother of Pearl technique. Hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy. Didn't use the Faux mother of pearl on this card. Just smooshing with inka gold for the umbrella, and acetate smooshing of inka gold for the background. :)
DeleteThis is beautiful...such a pretty card!

ReplyDeleteOh that shine! But not quite as beautiful as the beaut that fluttered into my hands today!! What a dreamy card with the perfectly smooshed BG and the sparkle on the embossed coffee cup! I could (and have) stared at it for hours. And I certainly hope I can do that gorgeous PB stamp justice. Thank you so much, my friend.
