Hi everyone. Today's card is again from the crafty fun I had with some friends a few weeks ago. This time the background is Color Bursts done with Stencil Monoprint technique. I placed my butterfly stencil over a piece of watercolour paper, sprinkled the Color Bursts, spritzed with water and then removed the stencil (that print is still in my stash). But instead of washing off the stencil which was still covered with bursts and water, I flipped it over and pressed it into a second piece of watercolour paper (stencil monoprint). Love how the colours moved and flowed on the watercolour paper.
Wasn't sure what to do with the background, so decided to try out a new-to-me technique that I saw perfected by my friend Lee-Anne (Creatively LA). I lined up my butterfly images with my stencil and then used a fine tip black marker to outline them. This is totally different than my usual style, but I'm happy with how it turned out. I definitely need some practice using the fine tip marker! :)

You'll notice that she did the positive stencil with the butterflies coloured ... for mine, the background is coloured and the butterflies are left plain. :) Always learning from Lee-Anne. I needed something fairly dark for the sentiment to stand out, so again with the black banner. :) It just works. Everything else seemed to get lost.

Wow...you and Lee-Anne have me totally inspired my friend. I was already planning on playing with my Brushos and stencils today. My watercolored background card fronts and ATC's are growing. I'm having so much fun watercoloring on our trailer camping vacation :-)

What a great effect you've achieved. I tried with brusho's but found I was putting on too much water and they leaked loads underneath the stencil... After seeing yours today I will try again! Thank you for the inspiration x

Whoo hoo..there is snow on the ground where we are camped, which makes the perfect lazy day to Watercolor with my Brushos and stencils after being inspired earlier this a.m. Loll by your beauty. I have 1 positive and 2 negative card fronts to finish into cards when we get home using your technique :-) Thanks for always inspiring me my friend.

This is so cool! Of course I'm loving the brusho background, and enjoyed reading about this nifty technique. I think your inked outlines look just fine, and this card has such a 'free flow feeling' to it. Also very much liked the way you've done the sentiment in the dark color. Just beautiful. Love how this turned out and the drawing with the fine line marker looks brilliant. Works perfectly with the messy bursts and bits of colour coming onto the butterflies. Perfect

Totally up my alley! Haven't given Lee Anne's technique a try yet, but it sure is cool. Great job achieving it with the powders.
I'm here to play catch up Loll. And boy am I behind! Love this beautiful card! The colors are just stunning. I haven't tried the stencil monoprint yet, but looking forward to trying it one day. The background came out so pretty on yours. I just love how you outlined the butterflies with your black marker, looks so pretty and really makes those butterflies pop.
