Hi everyone. Today I'm sharing another card from my get-together with my crafty friends a couple of weeks ago.
I've been away on vacation for a week, and I'm so happy to be back playing in my studio. :) I missed it! Today I made a card using a stencil and Color Bursts that Shirl brought for us to play with. They are really beautiful and very similar to Brushos. I did find it easier to get the powders out of the containers with Color Bursts, but other than that, don't see a lot of difference. I already have several colours of brushos, so for now I will stick with what I already have. :)
I placed my stencil over top of my watercolour paper, sprinkled wih Color Bursts, spritzed with water, then removed the stencil. Love how the panel above turned out. When I removed the stencil, it had brushos and water on it, so I flipped it over to create a stencil monoprint on a second piece of watercolour paper. Will make a card with that panel soon to share. :)
I sponged some Vintage Photo distress ink through a mesh stencil for the background, cut down my clock face monoprint to a small panel and stamped the sentiment in Vintage Photo ink as well. Each layer is popped up on foam to add dimension to the card.
I'm heading over to enter at Addicted to Stamps & More #191 - Anything Goes.

Also want to share how I store my brushos. I followed the video instructions from Sandy Allnock for organizing my pots of colour --- definitely worth watching.
Here's a picture of some of my pots of brushos ...
Thanks for stopping by for a visit! :)

Gorgeous masculine card. Loving the color burst colours and yes I use Brusho's and will stick with them too. Off to look at the video for storing them x Thanks for sharing x
ReplyDeleteThis really caught my eye, love the subtle background and the colours on the panel, welcome home!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Loll. Love the colours. Organising my Brushos Sandy-style is still on my to do list, but I think I had better get them out to play first.
ReplyDeleteWow, love this card Loll! I love the colors that it has and I love the techniques you used. I've never used and don't own brusho's but I sure do love what everyone is doing with them. I was wondering too, what the difference was in the brusho's and color burst. I kinda though they were about the same. They really are very cool and I did enjoy Sandy's video. A great way to organized them and have color charts as well. Sandy is an amazing crafter too and I love watching her. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Color Burst Stenciled image Loll. I love your stenciled Soft Suede background and sentiment too. TFS my friend.
ReplyDeleteTFS video too.
DeleteGreat card, I love the colours on the little panel and also the way you have stenciled the background xx
ReplyDeleteFabulous card Loll! Question about how you do a monoprint with Brusho's/Color Bursts though....do you put your powder on a craft mat, spritz it, lay your stencil down on it, and then lay the stencil on your cardstock? Or do you put your powder directly on to the stencil first? I love the look you created and especially love the chocolate brown color...think I need to get that color! I do think the color burst containers are easier to dispense the powder from too, but as I already have a number of the brusho's, I won't replace those till they're gone. Loved the link on how to store them too...thanks!! :0)
ReplyDeleteHi Marcia. I only used the stencil on this panel. Sorry. The stencil monoprint was a second piece that I made. When I removed the stencil from the panel above, it was covered with brushos and water, so flipped it over onto a second piece of w/c paper to make a monoprint. Have updated my write-up. xx
DeleteWonderful masculine card, Loll, and so different for you to have a dark card base! The stencil monoprint turned out perfectly!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the texture on this card Loll! The kraft with the subtle texturing from the stencil and then that lovely bright panel in the centre is a great contrast and really pops! Have a lovely evening! Hazel xx

Love the colors on the design piece and how it looks with the darker, stenciled background! An awesome Masculine card!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Loll, that monoprint is just fabulous!
ReplyDeleteVery cool, Loll ... the softness of the Brusho panel is such a great contrast with the geometric stencilling in the background! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Time Out! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteGreat masculine card Loll and your stencilled background is super...
ReplyDeleteAnne
Love this ..... fabulous masculine design, gorgeous colour combo too. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous card! Love that stencil you used and the great muted colors you achieved with the brushos. I always seem to be too heavy handed when squeezing them out.
ReplyDeleteWell, I will have to try that technique. Such a pretty card.
ReplyDeleteFun card and love the time idea!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great on the soft suede, picking up one of the colors in your colorburst background and the mesh stencil is perfect with this! Great card!
ReplyDeleteShirl
A fantastic card and love the results by using the brusho's the colour palette works so well with the stencil and love the colour of the base card too.

Another gorgeous card, Loll! I love the bold colors, and how they move around the stenciled clock! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Color Bursts, and for the photo of how you store your Brushos! LOVE mine, too :)
ReplyDeleteI really love your card. The colours are great and the nice watercolour effect is wonderful. I am looking forward to seeing your other card that you made with the stencil when you reused it! Such a cool idea. I also like how you added this subtle pattern in the background.
