Inspired by Jules
Hi everyone. Today I'm sharing a new technique I played with after being inspired by my good friend, Jules (Crafted by Jules). Thanks Jules!
Jules has made a few cards using the Wax Paper Emboss Resist technique. Click HERE and HERE to see her cards. She tried it after seeing a video on Stamp TV by Gina K.
Basic instructions are to cut out a piece of wax paper a bit larger than your card fronts. You will use two card fronts for one piece of wax paper. Scrunch the wax paper tightly and then smooth out to create lots of texture (I didn't do this step ... just used my piece plain). Place the wax paper into an embossing folder and run it through your machine. Remove, then sandwich the embossed wax paper between two card fronts, place inside a piece of scrap copy paper to protect your iron, and iron over top on a medium to high setting (NO steam). You end up with an embossed image on one card front, and a debossed (opposite) on the other. It's a very cool and easy to do technique.
I sponged two colours of distress inks randomly over top (Twisted Citron and Peacock Feathers) to reveal the design. I cut an angled panel, added a die-cut white leaf sprig, stamped a simple sentiment and added three dew drops made by my good friend Hazel (My Card Attic). Thanks Hazel!
Here's a close-up ...
Easy and fun card to make! :) Thanks so much for dropping by for a visit!

really pretty Loll - i tried this technique and had a real mess so i'm back to same same stuff!
I think I have done this technique in the past but it might have been just with the scrunched wax paper, without the embossing folder. Anyhow yours came out beautifully! Love the layout and the dew drops are perfect on the green!
Wow! fabulous technique, such a great looking background, Cathy x
This looks fabulous ....... the technique sounds like fun, must give it a try xx
Love how you've popped that fabulously blended card on an angle. Great and effective technique. Beautiful card x
LOVE this technique Loll ... but I don't get my iron out for anything! It's a fabulous piece and I love the way you have tilted the panel! Have a wonderful day! Hazel xx

So pleased you were inspired to have a go with this technique. Must admit I've been a bit obsessed since I discovered it. Love the EF you've used here as well as the gorgeous colours. xx
Brilliant technique Loll, such a gorgeous card!

Love these colors together and the embossed pattern, Loll! I love how you used this panel! And Hazel's dew drops are the perfect addition!
Ooh, I like how this turned out. Dew drops are the perfect touch on this!

Love the pattern & texture in this lovely shade of green...also the wonderful dew drops! The white leaf looks splendid against the spring green too. I've not had success with this technique, but perhaps I need to revisit it (it surely worked great for you!)Also like the assymetrical placement of the panel on the white very much. TFS & Hugs
This looks fabulous Loll...guess who's just ordered some wax paper!! Carol x
Gorgeous wax paper emboss resist layer Loll. TFS the link. I want to try the technique soon. Love your CAS design. You are always so Inspiring my friend. Hugs, Nancy
Love what you did with one of the pieces you made using that Gina K technique! That leaf die cut works perfectly with the embossing folder you used.
Ooooh....this one sounds really fun! And I have all the required elements! :). I really love the vibrant colors on your slanted panel and the simple die cut "embellishment."
Loll, I'd just hate to miss one of your posts! Always learning new techniques from you! This is beautiful! What a neat technique to create a subtle, textured backdrop for your die cut! Love the slanted panel. Thanks too, for the links!
Wow what a stunning effect that is. Love this, love your card. Thanks Loll
What a cool technique, Loll ... and awesome results ... the background is just so fresh and gorgeous with the crisp die cut leaves! Hugs, Anita :)
Very pretty card, and a great new technique!
You are the 'Queen of techniques', Loll! This is absolutely stunning! I love how the colors blend in the background, and the pattern is just beautiful! Another great idea that I'm going to put on my 'to do' list :) Thanks so much for the tutorial, too!
I saw Gina K.'s video on this too, and was smitten. I haven't tried the technique out yet, but sure do want too. I love how your card turned out Loll, so pretty and love the off set panel as well. I just got me some melting stuff to make the dew drops, Hazel told me what I needed to do them. I can't wait to make some. She is such a sweetie!!! Hugs, Brenda
Such a clever idea... to add to my ever growing 'to do' list!
I wonder if you can leach with distilled white vinegar? I'll look it up one day!!!
