Hi everyone. I have a confession to make ... I LOVE die-cuts. I'm obsessed with them. :) I'm sure you have noticed that I use them on the majority of my cards. So when I saw the June Challenge at CASEplorations with Shelly Kurth's gorgeous card with the die-cut circle, I had to play along.
I started by making a Splash Watercoloured background. Click HERE to see my video tutorial on this fun and easy technique. By pouncing the watercolour paper into diluted puddles of ink, I got splashes of colour that give this background lots of visual texture. Pink and brown look great together and I'm so happy how this turned out.
The poppies were die-cut and watercoloured using diluted distress inks and a water brush. I arranged it so that a few of the flowers are outside the circle frame. The card front is popped up over the card base for added dimension, as well as popping up a few of the flower heads. A simple, small sentiment was stamped to finish it off.
I'm also entering this card into two more challenges: AAA #66 - Watercolour; and Memory Box #13 - Watercolour (I used Row of Poppies die from MB).
And this is also a CAS Mix Up card for the June's Challenge - Diecuts, with stamping, die-cuts, watercolouring, and splash watercolouring technique.
Thanks for coming by for a visit!

The poppies in that beautiful color look fabulous against the background! Love this look, Loll! What a gorgeous background you created by pouncing, another one of your incredibly fun techniques that I need to try!
What a great looking card, Loll. I love the splash technique and can't wait to give it a try. The poppies are fantastic (I love poppies) and the way some of them pop up out of the circle gives the card more depth and interest...LOVE IT!!

You are very talented as I looked through a lot of your posts. I bookmarked you for future visits. You really have an artistic eye for design and color. (I too love die cuts, ever since my first coffee cup from Simon Says Stamp in Oct. 2014 I have been hooked). I don't have a blog but I am on Instagram at annievee1977. Hope to see you around the blogosphere.
Such a beautiful color combo, and I love how you created all that texture on your background with your DI's! Stunning card, and lovely take on Shelly's card, Loll!
