Today is my dear friend Christine's birthday! Hope you are having a wonderful day Christine!!
This card is another experiment with stencils that I haven't tried before. I used Brushos through a fern leaf stencil onto mixed media paper. See my video tutorial on how I stencil using Brushos.
After it was dry, I fussy-cut the leaf. Basically my stencil became a stamped image, fussy-cutting to create the focal point for my card. It worked well and now I will be looking at my stencils in a whole new way. :)
I thought the fern was so pretty, I didn't want to add anything to take away from it, so just used a simple white frame to add some dimension and interest.
My CAS Mix Up card has stamping, spraying (brushos and water mister), and die-cut frame, to I'm adding it to the CAS Mix Up August Challenge - Sprays.
Thanks for coming by for a visit.
Stamps: Sunny Sentiments (Amy R)

Ohhhh another fabulous technique for me to try. Never thought to cut the 'stenciled image' out either...very clever and creative. Stunning white against the green. So CAS with a mix of mixed media...the very best type of card x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous and some good ideas to case Loll!

Your brusho have given you're leaf a beautiful colour I'm sure your friend loved her card Loll

Love the colour you've achieved here Loll, fab. :)
ReplyDeleteHi! Love the look. I tried the brushos through stencil with dragonflies...worked pretty well. Another way to use our stencils and much loved brushos...thanks for introducing me to them.;
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Loll! I love the shades you got on the fern and it looks like a real fern! I love how you've framed it!
ReplyDeleteI love the mixed colors of the leaf. They are really beautiful and very juicy. The effect like a leaf out of the frame I like very much. This little an unruly and peeping :-) beautiful composition and you're right, nothing more need there. It is finitely perfect card.

Gorgeous Fussy cut Brushos colored Fern Loll..Wow! I have never tried fussy cutting my stencils either. It looks like you stamped and die cut your fern..I am impressed.
ReplyDeleteYour CAS framing is perfect too. TFS my friend and...Happy Birthday Christine.
Hugs, nancy
I really thought for a moment that this fern leaf was a real one Loll!!! You cut it out so well, it really doesn't look fussy cut at all! It makes for such a gorgeous card!! Happy Birthday to Christine!!!! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteThat fern is just gorgeous Loll and I was certain it was a die cut! When I read you fussy cut that- WOW! It's perfect! Love the framing on this. That frame is one I have trouble with. Fussy cutting a stencil image- I give you SO much credit for that one but after seeing this, it was worth it!
ReplyDeleteAnother one of your amazing cards! Clean and fresh looking with lots of interest! Love it!
ReplyDeletethe fern looks so real and fresh. wishing your friend chris a very happy birthday
ReplyDeleteLove the way you framed the leaf! And great to have a whole new use for stencils!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! You fussy cut that fern ..... stunning! Its so perfect it looks like a die cut. Another great idea for using stencils. Love the colour too .... its so crisp and clean xx
ReplyDeleteOh my! What a gorgeous card! I am so impressed with your cutting skills! Great use of a stencil. The colors on the fern are stunning and you are so smart to make it the star of the show. This is an amazing looking card! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the dimension the fern gives flowing out of the frame Loll! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteA wonderfully dimensional look from your stencil work. Bet this was a bit fiddly to hand cut, but oh, it's worth it. Love the 'out-of-the-frame' arrangement with the fern, and my goodness, the green colors fit the fern so perfectly. It's beautiful. TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteOh how pretty - love the variegated greens on the fern leaf, accented by having the white frame.
ReplyDeleteBlessings

I really love how you turned your stencil into a stamp...so clever, and the blend of colors from your Brushos is just beautiful, Loll! Another really stunning creation!
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning, Loll! It's given me the inspiration I need for playing along with your CAS Mix Up Challenge - I've got a few sprayed panels, but hadn't thought of die cutting them (I'll leave the fussy cutting to you ;)
ReplyDeleteOh so pretty. And OH SO MUCH fussy cutting. You go, girl.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought it was a real fern, Loll. It looks wonderful but I can't imagine cutting out all those little leaves.
