Hi everyone. Today I'm sharing the second part of a play with Brushos. Click HERE to see Christine's Birthday card from yesterday. I sprinkled brushos on top of my fern leaf stencil, spritzed with water, and once dry fussy-cut and placed it in a frame ... that's the card I posted yesterday.
After taking a print of my fern, the stencil still had lots of colour on it (from errant Brusho crystals and water) ... so I flipped it over and placed it onto a piece of clean mixed media paper to take a Stencil Monoprint. I pressed it down onto the card, blotting with a paper towel to absorb any colour that strayed into the open parts. This leaves me with a coloured background, and my stencil image is white. After it was dry, I place the fern stencil back over top, matching up the design and then spread a layer of Crackle Paste over top. A black with white heat embossed sentiment banner was added to finish the card. Easy peasy and I got two cards for the price of one. :)
Adding this to the Take It Make It August Challenge at Craft Stamper Magazine where this time they are wanting us to Take a Technique - Stencils and Masks.
Going to add this to the CAS Mix Up August Challenge - Sprays gallery. My CAS Mix Up card has stamping, Brushos, stenciling, stencil monoprint, embossing paste and heat embossing. Come play along!!

A couple of days ago, I had a play day with my friends Susan and Christine. We experimented with more stenciling techniques and products. Lots of fun! Susan brought her puppy, Tessa ... and my son Jeremy came over with Violeta. The pups had so much fun playing with each other. :)
Jer quickly snapped some pictures with his phone. Susan is holding her Tessa, and Christine is holding Violeta. Aren't the pups adorable??!!

ReplyDeleteOh, I love this one too! Two beauties! And those puppies are so cute! I know they were fun to watch at play!
ReplyDeleteI'm so in love with your style! This card has it all--gorgeous blended colors, the fern (any fern is a friend of mine) and then your Brusho and crackle paste techniques. And your card still manages to convey that crisp, elegant clean and simple look. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteOh my, again. I had just made a monoprint and here is your email! I, too, will enter it into the CAS mixup challenge. Love the technique. Your fern is just perfect!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card love what you have done with the brushos. That stuff gets everywhere, I had finished, cleaned up started on another project and low and behold it appeared again. Think I need seperate areas. Looks like you all had a good time. Now I'm off to make a card for the challenge, enough of this tidy stuff.
ReplyDeleteLovely card. Using crackle paste on the fern makes it look very unique - kind of like an antique pressing of a fern leaf. Perfect with the brusho background. Thanks for posting the photos of Tessa and Violeta - it was such fun watching them play!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful fern. Really like this crackle paste embossing. (how do you say Tutorial? One of these days. I know you are very busy just now). This card is so pretty, love that soft background. The pups are darling, and you can see they really want to be friends with each other. They are pretty little creatures too! So glad ya'll had a fun time. TFS

I was so taken by yesterday's fern card and now a chance for a "two-fer"! Love the addition of the crackle paste -- it is so perfect for the look. And like you said on your blog, uses stencils in a whole different way. You are so creative and come up with the best ideas!
ReplyDeleteWow, you sure did get two cards for the price of one Loll!!! I love how this one came out! The background is so pretty and I love how you used the crackle paste through the stencil. Savannah is every bit the puppy and gets crazy acting sometimes. lol Hugs, Brenda

Loved your first card with the fern, but oh my, I really LOVE today's card! I think it's the softness of the brusho's color that I really like, as usually brusho colors are so intense! And the white fern with the paste really stands out against that soft background...just lovely Loll!! :0)
ReplyDeleteThose puppies are so adorable, thank you fro sharing. Another creative and fun idea today with your fabulous card. Love the idea of using crackle paint...not done that before so will be adding it to the list x Love your inspiration Loll and the way you always try to find more/different ways of creating art....Love that x

ReplyDeleteYou are so clever, Loll! Talk about getting the most from your supplies, and I love the effect of the crackle paste! Another really beautiful creation!
This card is wonderful! Love the crackle for the fern and the brusho's background!
ReplyDelete...And these puppies are adorable! :)
The crackle adds so much! I never wast anything either - would have been sad to let those little Brusho crystal goo to wast - especially with this spectacular outcome!
ReplyDeleteI love flipping stencils to use the colour on them too. Your crackle leaf looks stunning, another fabulous card. Thanks so much for playing along at Craft Stamper :)
