Hi everyone. Today I'm sharing a different-for-me Christmas card. I used a pretty poinsettia stencil to create the background for my card. First, I dry embossed my card front with the stencil. I left it taped together while sponging all over with Festive Berries Distress ink and then sponging Fired Brick ink in the centers of each poinsettia to give the flowers some depth. I used a metallic silver pen to colour over the center stamens. To finish the card, I added a simple black Joy die-cut layered with foam for added dimension.
On a personal note ...
Just wanted to give a quick update on the health front. In my post from Sept. 16, I told my story about fighting breast cancer this year. Since then I met with an Oncologist and was sent for tests, and so was the tumour they removed.
I got the good news that I do not need chemotherapy. :) I'm so happy!! I will be having radiation treatments starting the later part of January 2017. I have the next three months free of tests and treatments so I'm going to enjoy the quiet time. :)
Thanks for stopping by!
Paper: White (Neenah 110 lb. card stock)
Ink: Distress Ink: Festive Berries, Fired Brick (Tim Holtz)
Accessories & Tools: Poinsettias stencil (Kite), Big Shot, sponges, metallic silver pen, Joy die (Hero Arts)

What a relief for you Loll. I must have missed that post because I had no idea exactly what the problem was until now! I know you still have to have radiotherapy but much preferable to chemo, and the fact that you have a breathing space before that starts is a chance for you to feel totally recovered from the actual op and to build up you strength in preparation for that last hurdle to recovery. Now for your beautiful card. I love that bright red stencilled poinsettia pattern and the sentiment fits the card and the good news. x
ReplyDeleteAn answer to prayers, Loll. You've made an amazing background with that stencil.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful use of the poinsettia stencil! Love the black "joy" on top of it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful card, Loll and I am thrilled for you not having chemo. Yay!

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you shared your wonderful news. I think this will be so encouraging to everyone who reads it, and know they will be as happy to hear this as I am. Love this stencil (one I've not seen around!) What you've done with it, created such a lovely design, and the fired brick looks gorgeous with the white 'mosaic'. Isn't that the neatest embossing trick? The black joy was the perfect embellie to set off your pretty poinsettias. TFS & Hugs

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that you have been unwell and happy that your treatment will not include chemo and I can appreciate what it means not to have to worry about appointments for awhile, they are draining but on the positive you can enjoy the holidays and before you know it you'll have finished your treatments and be well again. May God keep you and give you the strength and serenity to finish this chapter so that you can begin a new and wonderful next chapter of your story.
