Hi everyone. Bonnie and I are excited to celebrate CAS Mix Up's 1st Birthday Celebration. We are so thankful to Nancy, Susan, Julia and Joanna ... our wonderful Design Team. And we are so thankful to all our challenge participants that have made CAS Mix Up a success!
To celebrate, we are offering two prizes this month. One for Challenge Winner and one random draw from all entries. Bonnie and I hope you'll celebrate with us for a chance to win! See details on the challenge blog HERE.
On to this month's challenge ... hosted by ME! :)
Smooshing is fun and easy to do. You can smoosh with so many different products. Here's links to a couple of videos I have done on Smooshing:
Smooshing Inks
Smooshing with Inka Gold
The card above has a smooshed background of Liquid Watercolour Concentrate (yellow, orange, red). Once dry, I used a dotty circle stencil and gold ink to add some gold dots in the background. A tulip stencil was placed over top and I used embossing paste coloured with gold acrylic paint. Then I didn't like it ... the gold tulips were lost on the background, so I lined up the tulip stencil back over the dry embossed image, and then stippled white acrylic paint over top. Happy how it turned out. And happy I was able to save the pretty background.
CAS Mix Up is excited to have Marcia (Marcia's Stampin' Pad) as our Guest Designer this month. Marcia was our January Liquid Colours Winner. Welcome Marcia!
Please check out the Design Team's and Guest Designer Marcia's smooshed cards by clicking HERE! I hope you'll join us for our 1st Birthday Celebration!

ReplyDeleteWell, where did that year go??? Congrats on a great challenge, and I'm determined to play more often in this next year. Always great inspiration from you all, as with this beautiful (and well-saved) card.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful in the orange Loll - LOVE the added visual of the random dots you added! Great save on the tulips - funny how mistakes cause beautiful design changes! Congrats on your 1 year and I'm so glad you asked me along for the ride into the 2nd year! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, Loll. That orange background is so rich and has so much depth. The gold dots are subtle and such a nice boost to that luscious background, too. Love what you've done with those tulips, as well. The are front and center without overwhelming the other elements of your card. This is so pretty! Just love it! Bev
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Loll to you and Bonnie for your 1st birthday CAS Mix UP Celebration! Seems impossible that it has been a year already. You girls have been such a wonderful inspiration to us all. Thank you so much.

ReplyDeleteLove the subtle gold on your panel and stencilled flower Loll.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment re the contractors. It appears Railtrack do like to let the neighbours know what is happening. We got a flyer in the postbox yesterday to say they are sorry for the work that will be carried out over the weekend of 10/12 March including nightwork! Thanks for your understanding in order for us to provide a safer improved rail network!!! :)

ReplyDeleteGreat save with this card Loll. Interesting that the white took so well over the gold, great use of the white acrylic paint. Such a pretty background and love the idea of popping on the stencil and hi-lighting with the circles. Glorious card. Happy Birthday to you and the team....What a quick year, in crafty tearms! I am so looking forward to more fun challenges and learning lots along the way x Thank you for all your inspiration and all your hard work x

ReplyDeleteBig HAPPY BIRTHDAY WISHES to Cas Mix Up Challenge! And a heartfelt thank you to you and Bonnie for starting it.....I have enjoyed it and learned a lot. This is such a lovely card and I like how you rescued it from something you didn't like.
ReplyDeleteSuper background with your special w/colors.Adding in the gold dots created such bright texture (looks very Bokeh) and this is a beautiful tulip stencil too. Love how that look turned out! Saw this earlier, but had to return later to say how much I liked it. Didn't the year speed past so quickly? Congrats to you & Miz B for such a year of super looking inspirations too! Hugs (oh yes, thanks for explaining the brilliant save!)
ReplyDeleteLove your "smooshing" effect, beautiful bright colours. Great stencil effect too, another beautiful card from you.

The orange is such a great bold color for your flower! TFS!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite color combinations and I LOVE the texture you created in that background! Great save on the tulips too! And an idea I will borrow next time I have the same issue!
ReplyDeleteIncredibly perfect proportions! Your background looks like so richly. Like it was full summer and the sun flooded us with his wonderful golden energy. I love this card for an incredibly positive energy :-)

Wonderful card, love the panel (of course my favourite colours) then the stenciled gold circles, very nice indeed. Perfect save as the stencil looks brilliant in white and I was wondering on the depth of the stenciled image.
