Hi everyone. I'm back with another masculine card.
Today I was playing with some Bister powders that I've had for ages ... I think over a year!! Yep, they have been patiently waiting for me. :) My friend Christine, picked them up in the UK when she was there. They come in small resealable bags, so I found it hard to get out just a little to sprinkle on my card front. Found some plastic containers (similar to the brushos pots) and spent last night putting them into the new containers, labeling, and adding a colour swatch (on watercolour paper with sticky backing) on top along with piercing a hole so the powders could easily be sprinkled. The push pin holds everything in place and I can just pull it out and sprinkle easily. Here's a pic of my containers ...
The colours are very muted compared to Brusho or Color Burst powders. And they all contain a bit of walnut in with each of the colours, so they have very earthy tones. LOVE them. And perfect for creating a masculine card. I simply sprinkled two colours (green and natural) over my fern stencil onto mixed media paper, spritzed with lots of water and quickly removed the stencil. I got a very clean image. Added a simple tone-on-tone stamped sentiment banner to finish.
Stamps: Fun Birthday Sentiments (HLS)
Paper: Mixed Media (Strathmore 140 lb.); Soft Suede (SU!)
Ink: Bister Powders: Green, Natural; Soft Suede (SU!)
Accessories & Tools: Fern stencil made with my Silhouette Cameo, water mister

Love that fern leaf, a really fab masculine card. :)
So fabulous, Loll! Your Bister powders are perfect for this fern...I love the muted colors and crisp, clean image! You are rockin' the masculine cards, my friend...LOVE this card!!!
this is so pretty and i love that they are softer colors than the brushos - might have to have my son send me some as he lives in london!!
Beautiful effect Loll. I couldn't source bister here so I got infusions that also have the walnut in them. Love how these look with the stencil, Cathy x
Awesome end result! You do so well with stencils and water - me, not so much
Hi Elaine. The push pins in the top are just regular push pins you get from an office supply store. I used my piercing tool to pierce a hole through the colour swatch and lid of the container. The push pin just keep everything inside in case I knock over the container. Loll :)
Beautiful card Loll! Love the look of those Bisters - the muted colours look gorgeous!
Hugs

OK my friend...you are making me put Bister's on my wishlist. I LOVE the earthy tones you used and the clean stenciled fern image. Perfect sentiment designs too. A really awesome nature loving guy or girl card. TFS Loll. Hugs.. P.S. cool the way you repackaged the Bisters. TFS photo.
Love these colors and that gorgeous fern, Loll! Another awesome masculine card!
Gorgeous, gorgeous....was all set to go out and get that stencil till I realized you'd cut it on your Cameo. The combination of that fern and the Bister powders is perfect! Just an idea, for my Brusho's I did exactly what you did, except I used colored push pins along with my color swatches. That way I can tell at a glance which are in which color family, then check the swatch for the exact color blue, red etc. I want. Just speeds it up a bit! Because I don't say it nearly often enough, love your work and look forward to each new project landing in my in-box. THANK YOU
Loll, so glad you finally pulled the bister out:) There is definitely something different with bister, those earthy tones are so beautiful. Love the stencil and the CAS design. Hugs Christine
That is a lovely earthy shade, Lolly, and I love anything ferny! Very clever of you to set them up so they are easy to use like the Brushos. Can't wait to see what happens when you combine Bisters and Brushos ...!! Hugs, Dolly
OH do I love this! I favor earth tones and this turned out beautifully, Loll. How strange that your Bisters came in bags. Mine came in pots.
Wow, I do so love ferns. Beautiful. And the bisters are so muted and calming...for lack of a better explanation of how I see them. Love what you do and am always inspired to try new things. Now, do I need a Silhouette Cameo? Hmmmmm
Love the bister colour combination - perfect for a masculine card. And good for you, getting them organized in the little pots.
Fabulous card Loll - love the colours, just perfect for a masculine card.
Blessings
Maxine
I do love this fern stencil and what a gorgeous result with the Bister. Enjoy your weekend hun xx
Loving the earthy colour effect here - a nice change from the brightness of some of the other powders available.
Gosh, that's a stencil?, I thought it was a stamp, it is VERY beautiful and I LOVE the earthy tone. Not into stamping and the like, but must look those "powders" up. A Lovely card.

Wow...those colors blended wonderfully. Great masculine card. I, too, like those earthy colors. Have fun with your goodies. Great storage idea, too! :)
I love the touch of walnut on the beautiful green shade. Those colors made a realistic looking fern. Great card.
Love the design of this card, Loll, and the fabulous earthy color combo - great masculine card!!
I have done the same Loll with my bistre's....spooky or what? The only containers I found that fitted the bill had hair grips in them. There where two young girls stood beside me wanting to buy the hair grips....so.....I bought them and then emptied the hair grips out for them outside the shop! 8 tubs of hair grips amounted to lots!!! Ended up being quite costly but I felt good about it and got what I wanted! I love the bistre's, as I like the brown in them, very different colours to the brusho's, as you say and equally as good just different. Great for vintage/mens cards. You've achieved a great effect through the stencil and the colours are fabulous. Thank you for sharing this beauty x
Beautiful card Loll and I LOVE the earth tone colors!! Will definitely have to check those out!! :0)
Lovely cards and I guess I should play again with the messy brushos. Hope you are feeling great.
Wow Loll, I so the stencil you used and I am loving those bister powders you used as well. They really do have an earthy quality about them and I love the look! So beautiful is your masculine card! If a masculine card can be beautiful that is. lol Hugs, Brenda
Great layout and your frond looks amazing! Great guy card.
I can't believe how clean the frond came out with such a messy technique! You are a real pro at this! It looks awesome! I thought the Bisters were just like the Brushos or Color Bursts but I can see that they are more toned down and perfect for masculine or nature cards. Please don't make me want them, too...
This is striking and calm all at the same time, Loll ... the image is fabulous and those natural colours have blended beautifully! Gorgeous! Hugs, Anita :)
Spectacular effect! You are a master of work with stencil and brushos. Great color mixing effect resulting in this extraordinary fern leaf. Stunning card.
