Hi everyone. Received my Distress Oxides in the mail today. :) So excited!! I wasn't going to get them because I have been spending lots of $$ on stamp supplies lately, but caved yesterday and placed the order. I couldn't believe they arrived today. :)
So this is my first play. They are so unique and it will take me a while to figure out all the different ways to use them. For the card above, I just swiped three colours (Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick) directly onto a mixed media paper card front. Just little swipes of colour here and there. Sprayed with lots of water and let it run. Used my heat tool to speed up the drying, and then splattered water droplets (ghosting). Used Walnut Stain to stamp my image and sentiment. Easy and fast card.
Since my inks are brand new, I'm heading over to join Darnell's April Fool's Day Boo-Boo & NBUS #11. No boo-boos on this card, but NBUS inks. :)
Stamps: Efflugence (Penny Black); Enjoy (Penny Black
Paper: White card base (Neenah 110 lb. card stock); Mixed Media (Strathmore 140 lb.)
Ink: Distress Oxides: Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Worn Lipstick, Walnut Stain (Tim Holtz)
Accessories & Tools: water mister

Fabulous background Loll! Given how good you are with watercolour techniques it won't be long before you know ALL what they are capable of, can't wait to see more!! Have a great day! Luv n’ Hugs. Hazel xx

I really like the soft ans subtle colour blending on this background. It is really lovely and you have made a wonderful card.
ReplyDeleteThat turned out amazingly well, especially for a first play. I love the colors and those (what looks to me like) queen anne's lace blooms. Gorgeous card. Keep playing, too... I can't wait to see what you do next! Bev
ReplyDeleteYou chose such pretty ink colors for your first outing, Lolly! I caved, too, and just ordered mine this morning after finding them on a super sale. I've just heard too many great things about them NOT to give them a go. To be honest, I've never really gotten the hang of the DIs and these seem more user-friendly and versatile. I'll be watching the magic that I know you'll create with them and learning from you! Thank you for linking your lovely card to my NBUS Challenge #11! Love ya, Dolly
ReplyDeleteLooks great for a first try, we need to pull them out for our next craft day:)
ReplyDeleteFor a first play you got a beautiful result Loll - looking forward to seeing what else you do with them.

I just love the colors you achieve with the Oxides Loll. I am loving them. Don't they sponge on so nice and smooth?!
ReplyDeleteAren't they amazing? I caved when I saw them on offer in the UK with free shipping. Mine arrived last week and I have already used them on three cards. Looking forward to play some more and to see more of your experiments. Your first one turned out great.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Those colors look great together. Looking forward to more of your experimenting. You're always so good working with fluids - like alcohol, water, etc. Do you use a MISTI to stamp your images and sentiments? They always looks so crisp.
ReplyDeleteHi Marcia. Yes, I always use my Misti for stamping. I'd be lost without it. Loll :)
DeleteBeautiful card Loll.
ReplyDeleteI don't care HOW beautiful your cards are with the Oxides . . . I am NOT, repeat NOT buying another set of ink pads. Really, I mean it! LOL!
Hugs, Sarn xxx
I am SO jealous that you got the Oxide Inks!! I have been checking all the stores around here for them because I'm too cheap and don't want to pay shipping by ordering them online...none in the stores here yet though! :0( I love the look you got with just the simple swiping though and the bright and sun shiny look of this card just makes me smile! Lovely, lovely card Loll!! :0)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Loll! How fun that you got your order so quickly and were able to play right away. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Loll, love the colours used and cant wait to see what you do with these distress inks. I so want to order but trying to hang off incase they go mini which would be better for me. Also no one in Australia seems to have them at the moment. All sold out so will watch for now but they sure look spectacular.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty background! I have been loving my distress oxides. Lots of ways to use them for backgrounds and stamping. They came in one day!!!!? That is amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh my...I LOVE your DOX background Loll. Maybe that will be my big splurge when I come to visit :-) I can't wait for more of your samples. TFS my friend. Hugs..
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blend of colours, Loll - love the water drops. Perfect with a simple stamp on top, so that the oxide inks can take centre stage. Can't wait to play with them!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful effect and lovely colours, a Super card.

I saw on the internet what wonderful effects DI Oxide gave. I love how colors mix and overlap. Well, the bad guy came out of me, because I have to admit that some of you are envious of those impressive carcasses. Waiting for your next creations, they will surely be awesome !!

How beautiful, Loll! Love the image on that gorgeous background. I always love your choice of colors too! I too, couldn't resist and bought them but haven't played yet. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card - love the colours you've used. I'm resisting the oxides like Sarn I am not buying any more ink pads!
ReplyDeleteI love the background you got with your inks Loll and I'm interested in seeing what all ways you come up with using the Oxide inks. I love this card, it is just beautiful! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteYour backgrounds are always so ZEN. Love the colour combo, oxide magique by Loll, beautiful. That simple flower stamp is truly gorgeous on your panel. Always well balanced, warm hugs xxx
ReplyDeleteLoving those colours Loll! I'm off to a large craft fair at the weekend so hope to pick some up there. It's a great venue, Alexandra Palace the birthplace of the BBC and it was somewhere I played as a child.

What a beautiful background, Loll! Love these colors and the pretty silhouette flowers! I'm ashamed that I've had these inks for weeks and not used them. Got to get busy!
ReplyDeleteHi Loll, commenting from Darnell's challenge. This is really lovely, but I don't think I am ready to spend more money on distress oxides, but one never knows. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that was lightening fast shipment! I already love the first background you made with them! Some day I am going to get at least a few of the colors but right now I just can't order all 12... Would love to but can't...
ReplyDeletesuch pretty colour blends...you are pushing me to the edge of needing these...

I love those colors on your beautiful background. I have heard about these inks and I am considering them strongly. I really have so much now I need to play with and heavens knows I don't NEED any more NBUS...but sometimes our wants get in the way.
ReplyDeleteDreamy and so lovely, Loll ... those inks look gorgeous ... I'm still resisting ... for now! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks so pretty ..... the colours are just gorgeous xx
ReplyDeleteI don't know where you ordered from but next day delivery is great service. I've had mine for a while and did a couple of things when I first got them. I love how they stamp on dark cardstock. Now that I'm back from vacation and getting my mojo back I'll have to pull them out again.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pastels and I love your silhouette bloom, Loll! A really lovely CAS design, too...I have a feeling you're going to find lots of ways to use these inks!
