On to the card ... I tried the split panel technique again, this time using the same white background for both pieces rather than swapping out the split part with coloured card stock. I heat embossed the image twice in liquid platinum before colouring, splitting and swapping panels. The sentiment banner is also heat embossed with the same liquid platinum.
I used the beautiful image from WPlus9 that I received from my friend Trina. I watercoloured with Stampin' Up! dye inks this time. I think I like the brightness of the zig watercolouring better, but I really wanted to use red this time and find there is not a good red in my set of 48 zig markers. They mostly go on as bright pink and I wanted to have a true red this time.
Below are photos of both cards. Great way to make two cards from one coloured image. :)
... and the reverse ...

Beautiful cards! Thank you for joining our challenge at Cas on Friday!
ReplyDeleteWow - it's been too long since I visited. New photo setup. New card style. You're groovin' girl. Love these cards.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Lol!! These are incredible! Those colors are just beautiful together, and I love the platinum embossing. The way you've used your watercolors, it looks as if those blooms could jump off the card. Simply stunning. LOVE these. Bev
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, Loll. The metallic embossing and rich colours look so sumptuous.
ReplyDeleteAwesome backdrops for your card photo, Alex is an awesome photographer :)
ReplyDeleteI love the split card, such a great way to get a twoofer. I know you like the colours with zigs but I love the depth of colour from the SU inks.
I've been loving your split panel cards. Unfortunately I can't try them because the hinge on my MISTI broke and the company will do nothing about it. I hope someone comes up with a sturdy tool that will let us double stamp with accuracy soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Bobbie. I'm replying here because I don't have your email address. I hope you check back. :)
DeleteSorry to hear about your Misti. If you haven't owned it for very long, then they should replace it or have it fixed for you. If you went through where you bought it and are getting nowhere, try contacting the originator "My Sweet Petunia" and see if they will help you. Loll :)
Beautiful, Loll ... those vibrant colours are gorgeous with the platinum embossings (one of my fave EPs!). Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteBoth are beautiful!!! Split panel cards are truly a great way to have two cards with one colored panel!!! Love the bright and vibrant colors you chose!!! Thank you so much for joining us at The Flower Challenge, Loll!
ReplyDeleteSurprising solution :-) I really like that you shared the panel in colorful and black and white. I congratulate the honors at CAS on Sunday,
ReplyDeleteBożenA xoxo
I love this split panel idea Loll, one to remember for the future, and your colours are gorgeous and the black panel across the card as the split point is a lovely contrast. I love your new backdrops too. x
ReplyDeleteI love split panel cards and both of yours turned out beautifully, Loll! Your color palette is so pretty and stamping with Liquid Platinum EP was the perfect choice!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your back drop, too...I noticed it right away!
