Create a CAS (Clean and Simple) watercoloured card that includes a butterfly or butterflies! :)
I tried a new-to-me technique after seeing two gorgeous cards made by my friend, Linda (Life in the Craft Lane). She used the Split Colouring technique which creates two cards at the same time. I loved the look so wanted to try it myself. Thanks Linda!
I created a CAS design with the above card by cutting down one of the panels so there was lots of white space.
The second card is below. I left this one as a full panel, so it's not CAS, but wanted to share so you could see both versions. As Linda mentions, use your Misti to place your stamp. Stamp one image onto watercolour or mixed media paper and watercolour. Stamp a second version onto a coloured panel. Cut the panels at the same place and mix and match. :) Linda used clear embossing which also gives a subtler look ... I used gold.
This is Darnell's birthday card ... HAPPY BIRTHDAY dear friend! I'm so happy it arrived in time for your big day!! xx

Oooh .... two gorgeous cards Loll, great take on the split colouring technique. I love your gold embossing and those butterflies look so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a fun technique, I loved playing around with it. Thanks to the lovely Jennifer McGuire for the inspiration, and thank you for the mention. Have a great week my friend. xx
Got to love a Twofer, sure Dolly loved her's. Love those little gold embossed butterflies and the way you mixed up the two panels. :)
ReplyDeleteThe split coloring technique is so creative and results in a twofer, too--that's a yippee skippee. Beautiful coloring, as always, Loll, with one of your faves -- pink and orange.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous technique, Loll ... these are both beautiful ... the gold embossing is so rich and gorgeous, and is wonderfully complemented by your skilled colouring! Darnell will have loved her's, I'm certain! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful and a wonderful technique Loll and I have also seen Jennifer McGuire do something similar. I adore your colours and gold embossing for these gorgeous butterflies and both cards are fabulous. This will have been perfect for Darnell's birthday too. x

ReplyDeleteSuch an eye catching idea. Love how you've mixed the 'two' cards, so different and yet they work fabulously together. Thank you for the amazing inspiration x
ReplyDeletewhat a great idea to create two similar panels and split them for two cards! Your embossed butterflies look like they are fluttering around your card! SO pretty Loll! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful card. I love those butterflie. Such a pretty colour and I like the contrast with the gold embossing. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteWonderful use of gold color and design Loll.
ReplyDeleteHugs Diane
Thank you, Lolly! This card is so incredibly beautiful and even more so in person! And who doesn't love the idea of getting two cards for the work of one! Genius! Hugs, Dolly
ReplyDeleteI love the pretty butterflies, Loll! They're beautifully heat-embossed and watercolored. The two halves have a great contrast - the soft bright color half and the dark solid half. Darnell must be very happy to receive the card.
ReplyDeleteThis is sort of light spotlight stamping with the benefit of getting two for one. I love how you colored those butteflies, Loll. They're beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love both of these, Loll. And, personally, I think the full panel one fits CAS definition as well. It's just not as far on the minimalistic CAS scale as the other one. I need to check out my stamps and see if I can't find any to try this pretty technique. Thanks for always being a crafty inspiration.
ReplyDeleteBeen looking around your cards Loll, trying to work out what gold EP you use, but you just list it as gold EP, wach time as far as I can see.
ReplyDeleteHave some dud gold EP, and like this one.l
It looks similar to EP used on scrunched tissue paper in your latest video too, wondering what sort it is please??
Thanks so much for your great creative work, very inspiring, esp I've just been trying the tissue paper one, great budget watercolours!!!!
Love your work. Thank you so much.
