Hi everyone. The card above looks like a bright and beautiful summer day, perfect for sailing. For those of you that know me well ... the title of the post should read "I'd Rather Be Sailing ... NOT!" :) I get sea sick easily. I've been on a sailboat just once in my life and spent most of the time clinging to a pole while laying on the deck. Not a pretty sight!!. :)
We're half way through September so this is my reminder card for the CAS Mix Up Challenge - Watercolour Wash.
Bonnie is hosting this month's challenge and we're having so much fun playing with watercolours!
I created the background wash following Gina Kim's video tutorial. I taped down my watercolour paper and added lots of water on top with a sponge brush. Then I used Peerless Watercolours to add swipes of colour (yellow, green and blue). I added more ink and water and tilted the panel, letting the ink flow until the paper was completely covered with colour. Very easy way to do a Watercolour wash.
I die-cut this sailboat and sea scene with white card stock and popped it up on top. A simple stamped sentiment finishes the card.
I hope you'll take some time to check out the CAS Mix Up Challenge blog to see the beautiful watercolour wash cards from the Design Team and our wonderful Guest Designer, Cathy. I know you'll be happy you did!
Since this card is a silhouette, I'm also adding this to the CAS Watercolour Challenge - Silhouette.
Stamps: A Little Sentimental (Clearly Besotted)

What a gorgeous background and fabulous colour wash. Such pretty colours. The white die cut is perfect against it. Love the blue sentiment too x Chuckled at the blog heading and your'love' of sailing!!!! x
Gorgeous blended watercolour wash for your wonderful sailboat die. I get car sick and sea sick too, Loll. I am fine in our kayaks, maybe because it is closer to the water and I am in control? I do LOVE your sailboat card though! TFS Hugs...
My dear, I look at your card with this die cut and compare it with my card a few months ago. Now I see how many design mistakes I made while creating my card. I look at your card and find that it is perfect in every way. Beautiful colors, wonderful watercolor background and even sentiment perfectly matched to the whole. I love this card, thank you for the great study.
I'm with you, Loll - I hate sailing on small boats - don't mind the ferry or the big cruise ship I went on, but always turn down invitations to go out on small boats!
Love your beautiful colours in the wash! They absolutely say "summer" to me so are perfect for the die cut.
Love nautical card Loll beautiful background

Gorgeous!! The background is perfect and what a beautiful die to pair it with. I watched Kim's clip again and picked up some additional tips! Thanks for the inspiration!
What a gorgeous, bright and vibrant color blend, Loll! That die overtop is so intricate and neat looking. Sailing sure doesn't have to be your thing when making fantastic cards is absolutely your thing! Thanks so much for sharing. Have a great day! :)

Your water-colouring is gorgeous, Loll and makes a perfect background for the lovely die-cut.
Gorgeous watercoloured wash background, Loll! The transition of the colors is so smoothly! I'm sorry for the sailboat experience, but you revenged it by making this awesome summer ocean card. :-) Hideko

Beautiful card Loll. This is my favourite sailing die. It was painful to see it on AliExpress for a fraction of what I bought it for. And I'm the same as you... sea sickness is no fun.
What a beautifully blended background and I love the sailboat die.
I know what you mean about sailing .... Been there! I think I'm finding my sea legs finally though .... been on this island long enough! We're even thinking of taking the ferry in November this year ..... we must be crazy!!! xx
Absolutely stunning, Loll. I love your card, so beautiful.
Hugs

Your watercolor wash is absolutely beautiful, Loll! The colors blend flawlessly and work perfectly with your white silhouette...Another really striking card!!!
Thats such a gorgeous background for your boat die and the way you blended it together is incredible! Amazing! Thanks for sharing it.
I also love looking at the sea but not being in a boat on it so can understand how you feel Loll. This is a gorgeous card full of Summer sunshine, and I love that die cut silhouette scene, also the colour gradation is absolutely stunning. x
