This time I believe I used four different stencils. This is not the norm for me, but I really had fun with this. For some reasons, I'm more comfortable making masculine cards with this technique. :)
I used my Distress Oxides this time and you can see the chalky finish. I think they work great for this technique. I started with a background of smooshed yellow and orange. Then I started layering stencils. First I used a gear stencil, which is the main (largest) stencil in Wilted Violet ink. Next up the top left corner is small circle stencil with Spiced Marmalade ink and also a tiny bit at the bottom of the harlequin (diamonds) stencil done in Iced Spruce ink. To finish it off, I added black through a small clock stencil just randomly. I sponged the sentiment banner with Wilted Violet ink and then heat embossed the Happy Birthday sentiment in Black.
I hope you'll come join us if you haven't done so yet. There are fantastic, inspirational cards from the Design Team, our Guest Designer Marcia, and from our participants. Make sure to check out the gallery.

Super masculine card, Loll. I love all the stencilling, the colours are beautiful. I really ought to use my stencils more. xx
ReplyDeleteCool and funky, Loll ... the stencil layering is fabulous in those luscious colours! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteA wonderful mix of stencils, Loll! I love the way you've layered them and the colors of DOX that you have used!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful layered creation Loll! I must look at my stencils and see if I have some that would 'go' together and try this technique myself! Have a great week! Love & Hugs. Hazel xx
ReplyDeleteMy Card Attic
I love the way this turned out, Loll. I'm glad you pointed out the different stencils. It gave me a better idea of how to proceed with a card.
ReplyDeleteGreat mix of colours so cool I love all the layers:). Happy birthday Julia
ReplyDeleteFabulous mixture of colours and layers. I agree with you, that it's easier to do masculine cards with the multiple stencils (my DT card for the start of the challenge went to a male friend for his birthday).
ReplyDeleteGorgeous mix of colours and great stenciling too xx
ReplyDeleteFabulous card! I adore the color blends you achieved. You did a wonderful job with all those stencils and the end result is beautiful. Wow! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteYour colors and layering are outstanding! Love the wonderful gear stencils on this, Loll. Love this!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cool card Loll and can't believe you got 4 different stencils on there! I felt like I was doing the "I Spy" game to find each one...too fun!! Took me awhile to get going on this challenge, but finished my card this weekend and will post tomorrow...it really was a lot of fun once I got going and definitely makes you look at your stencils a lot differently!! :0)
ReplyDeleteVery Cool! Loved the color combo of the DOX, and the yellow adds such a spark of light movement to this pretty card. The stencil texture is so subtle in some places, adds lots of interest with the darker gear stencil design. The iced spruce at the bottom was a great touch to a card that could be either gender. Excited to see the Christmas Tag Challenge is coming, and hope I'll be able to play along. It definitely challenges me, with the Tags! TFS & Hugs too.
ReplyDeleteGlorious layering of those stencils and what fabulous colours. Those oxides are really amazing...or should I say what yo do with them! You look like you are having fun Loll with this technique? Another great challenge and working on it!!!
