Hi everyone! Happy New Year! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. I'm excited to see what 2018 will bring!
Time for a new challenge at CAS Mix Up. This month's challenge is hosted by Nancy and she has a fun technique for you to try. There are several video tutorials on the challenge blog --- make sure to check them out! :)
Today I'm sharing a card using a new AliExpress tree die. I just love it!
I used a watercoloured background that was in my stash. It is done with spray starch, re-inkers and cling wrap. It's has a very subtle crackle design from the cling wrap. I love the mix of colours ... pink and orange are so pretty together.
The tree die was cut from white card stock and adhered on top of my watercoloured panel which has been cut down to size.
The sentiment was stamped in coordinating ink and the image panel was popped up to create a bit of dimension.
We are thrilled to have Christine (It's a Card Day's Night) as our Guest Designer this month. Please drop by the challenge blog to see Christine's cling wrap card and the cards from our amazing Design Team. Then come play along!
Stamps: Sentiment - Bouquet of Thanks (Simon Says Stamp)
Paper: White card base (Neenah 110 lb.); Coated card stock for main panel (gift from my friend Christine)
Ink: Re-inkers: Pumpkin Pie, Regal Rose - retired (SU!)
Accessories & Tools: Spray Starch, cling wrap, Square Framed Tree die (AliExpress)

CAS Mix Up January Challenge - Cling Wrap
What a lovely die, and seems just made for your warm background. This looks so much different from the last post with that deep royal blue arctic look. This is so tropical, and just takes one away to warm soft breezes, with the tree branches waving over the head! It's beautiful. TFS & Happy New Year. Hugs
ReplyDeleteGorgeous watercolored cling wrap background for your beautiful die cut tree, my friend. I love your color combination with all your white space.
ReplyDeleteThank you too for your gorgeous new "splash" banner and badges:-) You are so talented, Loll. Hugs and Happy New Year!
Such a pretty, soft background Loll! I LOVE that colour combo! I MUST try to find time to do something for this challenge - I've done so little in the way of challenges lately - I miss them! A fabulous start to the creative 2018 year! Love & Hugs. Hazel xx
ReplyDeleteYour trees look like a spring revival. when the first leaves appear. A very positive picture. And your beautiful background adds even more good energy to this card. Great inspiration, Loll !!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
BożenA xoxo
LOVE cling wrap with water colors!! Will try to play along, all things pending, lol! Beautiful card, btw! Happy New Year. xo Bev
ReplyDeleteYour colors look similar to your new Challenge title backgrounds Loll! love the pink and orange - they look beautiful behind that wonderful tree die! Happy New Year! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteLoll, I'm so happy to see your favorite colours in your first card of the year so spring like. I love that die and can't wait to use mine :) I am so glad I got to be the first GD of 2018 with this awesome technique.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and looking forward to all our crafty sessions this year.
Beautiful Loll! The colors are perfectly distributed and look so pretty together! I’m trying to track down the reinker colors. Might Regal Red have any other name?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Hi Elaine. The colour Regal Rose (SU!) is retired. Sorry about that. I've added that to my post. It was my favourite pink from SU! and I was sorry they retired it. I think the closest colour (if you are using SU! colours), would be the primrose.
DeleteGorgeous card, love the beautiful colours in your background. Great die too :)
ReplyDeleteHugs Kaz x
OH how I love the blend of color. I've not tried the reinkers with this technique yet but love how you choose your colors that mesh so beautifully! Gorgeous card, Loll! Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card, Loll. The coloured background is beautiful and I love the tree die. xx
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Loll. Have been so busy but still watching all you lovely cards. Thank you so much for all you share!
ReplyDeleteI love this die, Loll! And it seems so perfect for the soft colors in the background that looks like a sunset!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Loll and has the look of a sunset with the sun at the bottom right and the lovely pinky red tones in the sky, and a lovely contrast with the white tree frame. We have a saying here which is 'red sky at night is the shepherd's delight, which obviously means a good day to follow, red sky in the morning is the shepherd's warning, means expect rain, but I don't know if it is terribly accurate...lol. x
ReplyDeleteWow this is stunning! I have tried this technique but it never looked this good!! Beautifully matched with this elegant die!

Such warm and pretty color combination, Loll! I love that you used the subtle crack cling wrap background for the tree die. The tree has lots of branches and movement, so the quieter background is perfect.
ReplyDeleteI also love the new awesome banner and badge! Happy New Year! Hugs.. Hideko
Beautiful card Loll, the background is so pretty. You've inspired me to use this die! Will check out the videos for the technique, Happy New Year, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous die, and the background looks so pretty. I do love that colour mix.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year my friend ...... what a great start to 2018 xx
Such a lovely card, Loll. Oh golly the pink and orange together just makes my heart sing. Add the pretty die on top and it's a gorgeous element. Thanks so much for sharing. Terrific and creative start to the new year for sure! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty effect with the technique and love those colours. The new tree die is stunning...as is your card x
ReplyDeleteLove this die, Loll - and love that bg with that great color combo that you do so well!! Happy New Year, my friend!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card, lovely diecut which looks really good against your background.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous trees against that delicious background, Loll ... they really look as though the branches are bending in the breeze! Wishing you a blessed Happy New Year ... Bonne Année 2018! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteHappy new year Loll! Hope your Christmas holiday was fun. I’m looking forward to 2018 too,
ReplyDeleteWay to kick off the new year with this gorgeous beauty. I agree that the orange and pink look fabulous together. Love that tree die... need to shop. 😂 So happy that I have a stash of cling wrap backgrounds on hand. Have a great day. xx
I love your card! I am, however, a bit confused as to when you add the spray starch to the panel and what exactly does it do? Thanks so much
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne. Thanks for your comment. You don't have to use spray starch, but I find that it holds the colour in suspension easier than water. The colours seem to be stronger with no water added. You can do the same technique with using water. I hope you'll give it a try.
DeleteI love this remarkable design, Lolly! It's a real standout! I thought the cling wrap technique was fun, so I hope to get out my wares and give it a go again! Love seeing the Twofer badge on your side bar, too!! :) Hugs, Dolly
ReplyDeleteLove the beautiful blend of colours - like a perfect soft sunrise or sunset behind the tree.
ReplyDeleteI too love that new tree die and you have done it proud here with that subtle background. Gotta try this technique again.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful Loll - love your die cut over that almost sunset-like background
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
Another fun technique to play with! I also love orange and pink together - the look so warm, which feels especially good when it's -20ºC outside... Paired with that wonderful tree die it makes a spectacular card!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, my friend!
Beautiful! You are a master at so many mediums, just perfect! Beautiful colors, lovely die
ReplyDeleteOh my, your tree die is so pretty and it works perfectly with your beautiful watercoloring, Loll! Love your color palette, too! As always, I'm looking forward to playing along this month!
ReplyDeleteThe background is so soft and lovely behind the fabulous tree die, Loll. I played with Brushos and wrap the other day and got some interesting results.
ReplyDeleteLoll, this is such a gorgeous card, the background is stunning and that die is so beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI love that die cut too Loll, but you brought it UP a step. That background is such an eye catcher. Such beautiful vivid colours accented with a strong orange sentiment. A truly happy, sunny thank you!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year dear friend, wishing you lotsa HEALTH! ...for you and yours.
Warm hugs, Joanna xx
Beautiful colour combination for your cling wrap background which goes fabulously with the die cut trees - like a sunset sky... lovely card Loll
