I'm thrilled that Mac Mable (The Sweetest of Peas) has joined the CAS Mix Up Design Team - welcome Mac!!
We also have another announcement!
This month is our 2nd birthday celebration at CAS Mix Up! YAY! We hope you'll join in the fun and help us celebrate. We have some prizes - check out the challenge blog for more details. On to this month's challenge ...
I do love playing with acetate and have used it two different ways in the above card. First, I die-cut a piece of acetate using a leaf die from Penny black. I used that as my stencil for adding embossing paste to my main panel.
Second, I smooshed alcohol inks onto a piece of acetate. The piece was cut down to size, and then embossing paste was used through the stencil I made, adding a lovely layer of texture on top of the panel. I backed the alcohol ink-acetate panel with a piece of white copy paper (you need the backing to show the true colours of the alchol inks). A vellum sentiment banner which has ripped edges and is heat embossed in black was wrapped around the panel before popping it up on foam on the card front.
Here's a close-up ...
Acetate is a great alternative to Yupo paper when working with alcohol inks. It's a lot cheaper than Yupo and gives a different look with a shiny surface.
We are happy to have Cathy (Cathy's Card Spot) as our Guest Designer this month at CAS Mix Up. Please check out the challenge blog to see Cathy's fantastic acetate card, along with the beautiful cards from the rest of our talented Design Team. Hope you'll play along!

Gorgeous as ever, Loll. Amazing dimension and texture packed in one perfectly CAS design. Love it.
...and Happy 2nd Birthday! Congratulations on a well-organized and successful challenge. Looking forward to working alongside you at CAS Christmas.
Love how you used AI on your acetate and backed with copy paper (instead of tissue paper) to make the gorgeous inks shine thru. Making your leaf stencil with acetate and then embossing with paste was a brilliant technique. It was wonderful stamping your sentiment on vellum too. TFS your beauty, Loll.
Congratulations to you and Bonnie on your CMU 2nd Birthday too:-) What a fun and inspiring challenge! Love and Hugs....
Fabulous card, Loll. The inky panel looks striking against the white. xx
Your background is beautiful! I love them for strong colors, so beautifully contrasts with the white branch. Using vellum adds gentleness to your card. Beautiful!

Love how you used the acetate -- I must try this as your end result is fabulous! :)
I've never tried embossing paste through a stencil on acetate - great idea! The white of the leaf contrasts beautifully with the vibrant AI colours. And the vellum lets everything underneath show through. A fabulous card!
Also meant to say, thanks for your kind comments about me!

I can't believe it's been two years, Loll. My how time flies when you're having fun with paper. And acetate and alcohol inks. This is gorgeous as all your backgrounds are but adding paste over the top is a new trick and I love it!
This is absolutely stunning! Love the white leaf shape with the deep rich shades on the acetate (never tried acetate other than just smooshing the alcohol ink on the surface. Am getting inspired with this challenge, maybe I can get something to enter!!! TFS & Hugs
