Hi everyone. Having fun layering elements to create more of a mixed media card. This time I layered a few shades of DOX inks, the most prominent being Wilted Violet and Fired Brick. Love how the dox inks show all the splashes and splatters of colour with drying in between layers.
I stamped a bit of dictionary background randomly on my panel, and then stamped my thistle in archival black ink. I added just a little bit of purple to the flower tops with a zig watercolour pen. To finish, I used white acrylic paint through a mini dot stencil (again randomly on the panel) and then heat embossed the sentiment in white onto black card stock. I cut the words up to I could add them separately.
Here's a close-up ...
Love this thistle image ... it's part of a two image set that I received from a friend. Thanks Dolly!

This is beautiful, Loll Love purple. You should enter this is Just Us Girls. I think the theme is mostly purple....
What a stunning purple coloured card Loll, and you have made such an interesting background with the stencilling and stamped text, and love that pretty thistle with the purple flower too. x
Lots of mixed media jewels on this card, Loll! Love the wilted violet paired with the fired brick and the thistles! A stunning card, my friend!
The background you created for your thistle looks spectacular! Love all the details!
I have been WAITING to see how you inked up that Thistle stamp and so glad you used the colour challenge at JUGS to play with it. Super gorgeous background and I love the touch of purple to the thistle heads. What a happy day for me when you used my favourite flower - an elegant weed it is hehe.
gorgeous background Loll, love all those layers of colour, stamping and stenciling. I also love that stamp :)
You're very welcome! You sure brought my namesake* to life with this fascinating and fabulous mixed media design, Lolly! I love the way your brain works to come up with separate bits that look totally cohesive!! Hugs, Dolly
(*"Lolium temulentum, typically known as darnel, poison darnel, darnel ryegrass, or cockle, is an annual plant that forms part of the Poaceae family and part of the Lolium genus. The thistle plant stem can grow up to one meter tall, with inflorescence in the ears and purple grain. It has a global distribution." How did you know the bit about the purple?!)
Beautiful background with great text stamping and stenciling! Fabulous colours! Love the way you did the sentiment.
Saw this earlier, but was on a commenting marathon. Saved your card til last until I had a chance to really enjoy all the 'goodies' you used. Would never think of combining the Violet with the Fired Brick, but what an awesome blend of color it created. Love that thistle silhouette, and all the tricks you've pulled out on this card, just turned it into a stunner with lots of texture, interest & pretty color. WOW! TFS & Hugs (and lucky you to get this sweet stamp too).
Love the background to your thistles Loll, they are the bain of my OH. The first sign of them and he's off with his spray pack! ;)
Oh Loll, this is stunning - love the subtly of the background stamping and stencilling, and that fabulous image in the foreground
Blessings
Maxine
love the mixed media background on your card, Loll - and the white dot stenciling makes it all pop - wonderful card!!
This is stunning, I love the mix of colours on the background and the black stamping looks so striking. The added white dots bring the whole design to life. Thank you for playing along with the Craft Stamper Challenge xx
Wow! This is fantastic, Loll. So many layers and details that all come together to become fabulous!
I would never think to use those colors together and yours is beautiful. What a stunning background. You add so many details that combine together so perfectly like the stenciling and stamping. Your cards and techniques always inspire me to be a better stamper and try more things.
Now this is my type of card. Fabulous mixed media elements all put together beautifully and keeping it CAS. Love the scale of the background text stamp and the mini dot stencil. The background colours, splats etc are fabulous, along with that stunning thistle stamp. Stunning card Loll....love it x
Gorgeous and mixed media-licious, Loll! Once again your color choices are spot on. I would never think of pairing those two together, but here you did and they look incredible. Beautiful dimensions and textures. Well done! xx
So VERY lovely.

This is such a beautiful, mixed media background, Loll! I particularly love the white stenciling on this. Your use of color always fascinates me, combining colors I'd never think to blend. Gorgeous card!
Amazing!! I admire mixed media even though I have rarely created a card that would qualify as MM!! You make me want to dip my toe in to this beautiful style!! I especially love how CAS your card is. I guess I don't normally associate CAS with MM. A++++ Loll!
Wow..The only mixed media I have ever loved is yours Loll. It still has CASness (to me).. I love the colours and the textures and also the wonky setting of your sentiment.
Oh my...this is absolutely GORGEOUS Loll!! Your background is amazing and I just love the purple and red together! The little bits of dictionary print and white dotted stenciling contribute to make this a FABULOUS background and just perfect for your beautiful Thistles! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! :0)
The more I look at this card, the more I appreciate the beautiful details, Loll! The layers of the distress oxide inks, the dictionary stamping, and the acrylic paint stenciling creates a rich and dreamy texture background. I would never think of using Wilted Violet and Fired Brick together. How inspiring! I love the thistles too. They're so lovely with the purple flower tops. Hideko xx
Absolutely beautiful! The more you look at it the more detail you see!
This is spectacular, Loll. I love mixed media but struggle with doing it myself. I love the look the DOX give for your background. Thanks for sharing your card with us at Just Us Girls.
Beautiful card, Loll! I love how the Fired Brick softens the Wilted Violet, and all the layers of colour, stamping and stencilling. Thanks for playing along at Craftt Stamper Take It, Make It!

Your background is so varied, Loll. You can not get bored looking at your card! The black silhouette of plants on the background looks so beautiful. I also like the way you put you sentiment. Such a modern way :-)
