Hi everyone. Welcome to the start of Twofer Card Challenge #5.
Just a reminder that the challenge is to make TWO CARDS following the guidelines below and using the prompt word in the above badge.
I'm using my favourite butterfly die for my cards this month. I'm sure you've seen this die used on my blog several times. :) I have other butterfly dies, but this one is just the perfect size.
First up is a very CAS design using mostly white. I have my white card base. On top I have popped up on foam for dimension, four one inch squares of white card stock that have been dry embossed with a leaf design.
A piece of alcohol inks on yupo paper from my stash was used to die-cut the butterfly and body. They were glued together and then glued just off-center of the middle of the four squares. A birthday sentiment is stamped below in bright orange ink to match the colours of the butterfly.
Here's a close-up ...
Second card is a CAS mixed media design. I started by watercolouring white tissue paper with dye inks. It's from my stash so I don't know what colours I've used, but believe this is done with distress inks. I glued the piece onto white card stock and cut my panel to size. Then I mixed some heavy gloss gel with gold acrylic paint and spread randomly over a honeycomb stencil. I love how the gloss shines. The sentiment was stamped in matching gold ink onto a white banner and adhered at the bottom of the panel. The butterfly is cut from the same white and glued to the front panel, which is popped up with foam for added dimension.
Here's a close-up ...
I hope you like my two butterfly cards. Please check out the challenge blog to see the amazing butterfly cards from our two wonderful Guest Designers Linda and Mac, and the rest of our talented team. I know you'll be inspired to play along.

Beautiful, Loll ... both of them! The saturated colour on the first pops wonderfully against the textured white ... and I love the glow of the gold on the second, it looks as though the butterfly is just poised there, ready to fly off into that lovely inky background! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteHow pretty are your cards Loll.. and the techniques are so inspiring. You add so much interest to a card :)

ReplyDeleteBoth are beautiful - in fact, I wouldn't be able to choose one over the other. Love the gold stenciling on the tissue background - perfect for the simple white butterfly. And also love the simple dry embossed squares behind the dark butterfly - I need to remember to use my embossing folders more often.
ReplyDeleteWOW! You have managed to turn CAS cards into mini works of art. Love the alcohol ink butterfly as well as the mixed media piece. Your talent for design continues to amaze me!

ReplyDeleteTwo lovely, lovely butterfly cards Loll! I think I like the simplicity of the first card best, but then again, there is something about shiny gold that just pulls me in with your 2nd card! And I really do like the simple butterfly die cut you used on both cards too and can see why you use it often! You definitely rocked this Twofer challenge my friend! :0)

I also love (and own, yay) this butterfly and like how delicate it looks and it is indeed a versatile size. Your cards are wonderful! Adore the dimension of the dry embossed and raised squares of the first one combined with the AI butterfly as well as the amazing mixed media background you created for the second card! Fantastic designs, both of them!

Perfect! and delicate and just plain dreamy!! : )

Your butterflies are spoiled living with you and being able to dress up in such gorgeous gowns and grace the stunning card fronts you design, Lolly! I love the alcoholic butterfly on the four dimensional squares. I have a similar die and have never embossed the squares; it adds a ton of interest, so thank you for that! And your gold-enhanced paper towel mop-up - WOWZA! Honestly, I think you could do a whole gallery showing of these sheets framed and no one would ever guess they were paper towels used to mop up your ink!!! Of course, the butterfly is nothing short of royalty!! Hugs, Dolly
ReplyDeleteLove both of your DT makes, especially loving that sumptuous touch of gold
ReplyDeleteKathyk

Stunning Twofer .... I love your little butterfly. The gold honeycomb looks and I love the CAS design with the white embossed background. I'm so thrilled to be a GD this month xx
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful butterfly die and looks so very lovely on both of your wonderful cards. I really love those designs.
ReplyDeleteI thought I had commented on the Twofer DT designs but somehow missed this and it is so beautiful with the gold on that pretty tissue paper background, and then the white squares with the contrasting darker coloured butterfly on the other. Two fabulous cards Loll. x
ReplyDeleteOMG ! These two designs are so impactful ! Even if I really love both cards, I think I have a little preference for the first one with this striking butterfly in bold colours over these lovely embossed squared panel...so WOW ! Love also the gold on the second background, it adds so much interest and highlights beautifully the white butterfly. I really love your CAS cards ! Thanks so much for sharing and inspiring. x
ReplyDeleteBoth of them are gorgeous but I have to admire more the one with inked tissue paper as I love the inked effect and I can't imagine it must have been easy to keep it intact when gluing it to the card. Thanks for the inspiration! Hugs, Gwendolyn
ReplyDeleteHow stunningly eyecatching are both your cards Loll, the rich butterfly on the white textured background and then the opposite with soft pretty pink and gold to show off the white butterfly, gorgeous cards
