Shaker Card and More

Hi everyone.  This is my first successful shaker card.  I have made a few others, but they didn't go together as nicely as this one and I had glue all over the place. :)  This time, no glue ... just foam and adhesive strips.  Works much better for me. :)

I was looking for inspiration and saw the Jingle Belles challenge.  They are wanting cards inspired by their BEAUTIFUL header ...
I went with the silver, white and blue colours ... and silver snowflake! :)

I bought this die-cut snowflake block not long ago and this is my first time using it (NBUS - never before used schtuff ... as Darnell would say!).

I die-cut this twice ... once from white card (my card front) and a second time from silver foil.  I inlaid the silver foil snowflakes into my card front and secured it with a piece of acetate on the inside.  You probably can't see, but the acetate was dry embossed with falling snow.  Added a foam frame at the back around my block and then filled it with different colours of sequins.  Adhered a larger piece of white card stock on top of the sequins to hold everything in.  **  I did add a few little drops of glue near the top of the block on the back of the acetate and secured a few sequins so they didn't all drop to the bottom).

Placed my card front shaker over my card base and added a black with silver embossed sentiment banner to finish.  Happy with how it turned out. :)

I still had the white die-cut snowflake block from when I cut it from the card front of the card above, so used it with a watercoloured background done in brushos that was in my stash.

This went so well that I ended up make two of each card so I have one for my Christmas card stash and one to donate.

Paper:  White card base and front (Neenah 110 lb. card stock); Silver Foil (SU!); Black (SU!)

Accessories & Tools: Snowflake Block die (Simon Says Stamp), Assorted colours of sequins, acetate, Falling Snow embossing folder, foam, silver embossing powder (Ranger), heat tool

    Marvellous shaker card and classy and wonderful second card Loll. That snowflake die cut is wonderful and so very pretty. The first card is glorious with the silver and the pretty shaker. The dry embossing is such a great idea too. Striking second card with the white against the gorgeous water coloured background which you did with the brusho's x

    Gorgeous shaker, Loll ... those blue/aqua sequins are luscious with the silver snowflakes. I did wonder how you got the 'snow' on the acetate ... it's really effective. Lovely twofer ... I'm rather partial to some crisp white against a blue-y/green background! Hugs, Anita :)

    Wow..Gorgeous snowflake die for your shaker card. I LOVE your silver foil and pretty colorful sequins. Your 2nd card with the leftover snowflakes is beautiful too with your pretty background in blues and greens. TFS both your beauties my friend. Hugs..I need to check out that awesome die....

    Oh Loll that shaker card is just dreamy and so beautiful with such soft colours. What a great idea to emboss your acetate. It's stunning. Then you make you second card with such beautiful blending. A super CAS card - oh but you are Queen of CAS.

    Loll, those die cut images are beautiful. That snow flake block die is going on my wish list at SSS :). I love the simple shape and the crispness of your image on your cards. Both the silver and the white just pop off the card.

    Oh my gosh, Loll! The first card is GORGEOUS! The silver snowflakes are beautiful and look fantastic with the blues and greens in the sequins. You embossed on the acetate? Brilliant! And so is gluing a couple of sequins. Your second card is beautiful, too. I really like how you used all the pieces and that background is lovely. You are so good! :) Hugs!

    WOW...two FABULOUS cards Loll (well, actually 4!!)! Your shaker card is stunning...CAS perfection!! Love that you embossed the acetate too...I really like that look on shakers! And your 2nd card with the Brusho's is equally beautiful! I think I'm in LOVE with that snowflake die!! Beautiful, beautiful cards my friend!! :0)

    Oh, Loll !! This is such a beautiful card! I love the silver frame with snowflakes and such beautiful colors of sequins. It looks stunning. Of course I see stamping on acetate :-) Such a good idea! One of the most beautiful shaker cards I've ever seen.
    The second card also makes a great impression.

    You should be happy with that shaker, Loll. It's absolutely gorgeous and the fact that you got a second card from the cut makes it even better. As long as we're quoting Darnell, "It's A twofer".
