CAS Mix Up August Challenge

Hi everyone.  Today is the start of the CAS Mix Up August Challenge.  This month is being hosted by Nancy (scandinancy creates).  She has us using one of my favourite stencil techniques ...

This is such a fun and easy technique.  I had tried this years ago and failed miserably.  But when my friend Lee-Anne made a video tutorial, it just clicked for me.  Make sure to check out Lee-Anne's video tutorial HERE.

I used two colours of distress inks on my stencil, just swiping the colours randomly (scattered straw, abandoned coral).  I spritzed with water and then flipped the wet stencil over onto a piece of mixed media card stock.  I used a paper towel to blot up any excess ink.  I let it sit for a few minutes and then removed the stencil and blotted my panel again with a paper towel.  I ended up with a soft, dreamy design that I used for the shaped background for my card above.

I stamped the flower branch in Archival Sepia ink and then used more Abandoned Coral along with Vintage Photo Distress Inks to watercolour my image.

The sentiment is stamped in the Archival Sepia to finish.

Here's the close-up ...

We are thrilled to have Cathy (Cathy's Card Spot) as our Guest Designer this month.  Please check out the challenge blog to see the stencil monoprint cards by our Designers and wonderful Guest Designer, Cathy.  Then come play along.  Remember to keep your design CAS, include stencil monoprint, stamping, and one other item from our list on the challenge blog sidebar.  Hope to see you in the gallery!
