I had just bought this beautiful hibiscus die from Simon Say and thought it would work perfect for this technique. I watercolour the flower with two shades of coral / red and the leaves with two shades of green.
I cut three of the outline images, adhering them together with glue and then adhering over the hibiscus watercoloured image. Crystal Glaze is added over the flower and leaf to fill in the space between the sections of outline image. A black sentiment banner is added over top with white heat embossing. The die is square, so I made a square card.

ReplyDeleteHow cool is this! This is a new-to-me technique and it looks so fun to do! I'm not sure I have the dexterity to layer that die cut three times though (grin). That is truly a test in patience but absolutely love the results. Thanks again for more inspiration!

ReplyDeleteThe glaze flows really smoothly. The only part is trying to get the glaze into tight corners. What I do is take a small pin and sort of "drag" the glaze over to fill into corners. It's important to make sure the glaze covers everything.

ReplyDeleteI think that glossy accents should work well for this too, Marcia. It's just that people have been raving about the crystal glaze so I had to get some to try for myself. It's really easy to use, and it does seal up on you like GA when it's been sitting a while --- bonus! :)

ReplyDeleteThis is a beauty ..those colours and the die are perfect for each other. The glaze.. is it not similar to glossy accents?? How is it different? I have glossy accents.. but I've always shown restraint while using it on larger surfaces.. for the fear of finishing it.. I can buy more.. but still.. you know what I mean!?

ReplyDeleteI love the added dimension to the flower through a layered arrangement of hibiscus. Filling the flakes with liquid glaze makes the floral window look like a stained glass window. A great card, Loll
