This is the same stencil I used on THIS CARD ... and it's one of the same techniques as well. This is done with stencil monoprint. Swiped with distress inks, spritzed with water and flipped it over onto cold press watercolour paper. Pressed down over and over with paper towel to absorb any excess ink that would come through the stencil. This left a really good, clean impression of the sunflower, while colouring the background. I stamped a simple sentiment in the same brown that was used for the center of the sunflower and then attached my card front to a card base. I rounded the top right corner to finish the card.
Had a wonderful tip from my friend Trina about doing stencil monoprints. She layers her stencil on a piece of paper towel before starting. She does the same swipe with ink and spritz with water, but having the towel underneath means that lots of the excess ink is absorbed from underneath before she flips the stencil over onto her paper. It really help to keep your image sharp. Thanks for this great tip Trina!!
This is a very quick and fun technique.
Here's a close-up ...

ReplyDeleteGorgeous stenciled monoprint sunflower, Loll. I do not add a paper towel layer, but do add a piece of usually mixed media paper under the stencil and then I get a Twofer...one positive and one negative image. I want to try Trina's method too, because I LOVE how clear your image turned out. TFS my friend. Hugs..
ReplyDeleteGreat hint - made for a fabulous card!
