Black Ice Technique

Hi everyone.  Today I'm sharing a new-to-me technique that Susan, Christine and I tried out on one of our crafting days.  The technique is called Black Ice.  Click HERE for a video tutorial.  We all tried it with the silver and black ink, following the video.

On my second try, I wanted to do something a little different, so used gold foil paper and Archival Sepia which is a coppery colour.  I love how this turned out.

This is my reminder card for CAS Mix Up August Challenge - Metal, hosted by our mixed media expert, Mac.

I used gold foil paper, which is a metal, and the clear embossing over the sepia ink looks like copper ... also a metal. :)  To finish the card, I used a mini dot stencil, randomly sponging with gold delicata ink, popped up my main panel, and added a gold stamped sentiment.

I've had fun with this challenge!

Here's a close-up ...
I hope you'll check out the reminder post to see some new cards from our amazing Designers, and our wonderful Guest Designer, Pat (Colourful Creations).  I know you'll be inspired.  There's still 9 days left before the challenge closes ... come join us! :)

I love this technique using the gold and sepia Loll - so different from silver and black - but still wonderfully shiny and metallic - such wonderful streaks in your background! Julia xx

What a wonderful take on the black ice technique. This has been on my to-do list but I've yet to try it. Love the colors and love that you used Archival ink as opposed to Staz-On. What a fabulous effect!

UNIQUE! I'd call this the Dark Sepia Technique :D ..a warmer version!
Love the results achieved, this card is priceless. It truly has a soft shimmery appeal, the little bouquet was the perfect stamp. The matching gold sentiment and gold stencil give it all the honours. Beautiful, xx

I love the use of the Sepia!...and the way the focal point "splashed-over" onto the background.

AW-SOME! I really like the look of the gold & 'copper' on this black ice. I've seen some cards done with the gold paper, but this is by far the most impressive I've seen. The silver & black is gorgeous, but this just takes my breath away. You've really aced the technique, and what a perfect metallic card you've shared!!! TFS & Hugs (I'm so envious of your technique group!!! I can just imagine how you play off each other's ideas and skills. How wonderful!)

What a marvellous twist on the black ice technique and the gold and copper look you have achieved is simply gorgeous Loll, and love the flowers stamped on top. The bit of stencilling using gold ink around the topper and for the sentiment ties it all together perfectly. x

I love this with the sepia ink. I tried it once with gold foil and black ink and I didn't like my results but this is so beautiful. I always like your silhouette flowers and these are lovely.
