Hi everyone. Today I'm sharing a new-to-me technique that Susan, Christine and I did on our play day about a week ago. We followed the technique written up on THIS BLOG. Basically, inked up my silhouette stamp with Versamark; brushed on Brusho crystals with a damp paint brush (the brushos stick to the Versamark), then spritz with just a little water and stamp onto either watercolour paper or mixed media paper.
I was really happy with the intense colours. Adding just a little water means the colours are not diluted. I used Brushos, but this would work with any powdered inks.
Because there was still lots of ink left on my stamp after my first impression, I did a second pull. Even the second pull has lots of colour.

I used the left over powdered inks on my palette, diluted with quite a bit of water and splattered over the images. I stamped a sentiment in dark brown ink to match the stems. To finish, I placed my card panel back in the misti and stamped the image again in Versamark and heat embossed in clear.
This was fun and a fairly easy technique to try. I think the success is partly the image you use, so try a few different silhouette images. I hope you'll give it a try.

ReplyDeletewhat a fun technique - am going to have to put this in my "to try" file - and your cards are beautiful, Loll!
ReplyDeleteAnother technique for me to try Loll! The cards are stunning. x
ReplyDeleteThese are both so BEAUTIFUL Loll...love the intense color, even on the 2nd pull!! Did you use Brusho's on the stems too, or something else? Lovely, lovely cards!! :0)
ReplyDeleteHi Marcia. Yes, I used Brushos on the stems as well. It's important that you only mist lightly with water to activate the brusho crystals, but not end up with a blurred image. Loll :)
ReplyDeleteI love these easy and really sensational cards, Lolly! The colors stayed vibrant with your light watering, but I have to say, your second pull is my favorite! It's so cool that this technique worked well enough to get two great cards from one inking!! Hugs, Dolly
ReplyDeleteThey turned out beautifully, Loll. I think your addition of the second coat of Versamark and the embossing powder really added to the original technique. I'm going to try it again and do that. They are wonderful autumn notecards!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and impressive result using this new technique. This is definitely one I will have to try. Love the variation in colors you achieved. So glad I didn't miss this one!
ReplyDeleteYou know I love how these berries turned out and they made two beautiful cards! This looks like a really fun technique!
ReplyDeleteOh these are beautiful cards, Loll.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job completing these panels into cards, Loll. The intense colours, even on the second pull, are striking and eye-catching. Awesome splattering as it adds gorgeous texture. Amazing my friend. . xx
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun technique, Loll! And, you achieved wonderful results with both cards! Love the bright color on the berries!
ReplyDeleteLove this look, Loll - so vivid! And an extra card to boot, can't beat that!! Great job!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Loll and thanks for sharing the technique.
ReplyDeleteTFS all your step by step details and the link to the technique. I definitely want to try this cool technique. I love the intense colors, your 2nd pull and your splatters. Awesome that you got 2 cards on your play day. TFS my friend. Hugs..Nancy
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous Loll, that was a fun technique and one I really want to try again. You managed to get a great variation and depth of colour, I love your card.
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat technique & beautiful results, Loll! I have a few ink powders & need to see if they'll work for any of my silhouette stamps. Can't wait to try this!

That's a sensational result. I am very surprised that the color is so strong at the second impression. I would like to try this technique. I hope I have enough time.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, another fun technique to try. Both of these are just lovely and each one looks so fresh and clean. The second pull is just as beautiful as the first one. Love all the splatters.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, thanks so much for trying my technique! I have followed you for some time and love your style. I originally did this technique and taught it in Holland where I was at a show representing Magenta. I also posted this on my blog here https://backporchatolympia.blogspot.com/2018/09/magenta-super-saturday-with-dianne.html, with a little more info; and my original post about it with my card I taught in the workshop is here https://backporchatolympia.blogspot.com/2017/03/technique-of-week-painting-your-stamps.html. Your take on this technique is amazing! You have inspired me to go back and find more stamps that will work well with it!
ReplyDeleteThe cards are spectacular, Loll! I love how the colours have merged beautifully on the lighter second pull. Will definitely be trying this technique!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, Loll! This technique worked perfectly with your stamp and I love the autumn color palette! Thanks so much for sharing your step-by-step instructions and for the link :) I'm so glad you joined us this week at Fusion!
ReplyDeleteSimply gorgeous Loll. I am going to have to try this technique out for sure.
ReplyDeleteThese look fabulous Loll, I really need to give this technique a go. I love how you've got two great prints .... I don't like to waste ink! xx
ReplyDeleteAnother amazing cards, Loll! Great technique, I've already read the tutorial on how it's done. But I have a question, are you applying brushos to the stamp? I know you need to dip the stamp in Versamark, but I'm not sure about applying dye powder.
ReplyDeleteI have to try this technique because the effect is bewildering, just like your cards, LOLL.
Hugs,
BożenA
Wow Loll, these are stunning! Never knew you could use brusho's this way, but it sounds like lots of fun to do and it sure gave a beautiful and vibrant look! I can't keep up with all the techniques there are so many! I need to make a list of them all. lol This is one I definitely want to try though. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteI may have to get a silhouette stamp just to try this, Loll. Getting two cards, and both looking beautiful, is a bonus.
ReplyDeleteWowsers, these cards really pack a punch, the splatters do complete this stamp. You must of had so much fun doing this. The second pull is different but equally beautiful to the first. The berries look real and I love the variation yet fluid results. Thank you for the "how-to" details. xx
ReplyDeleteAnother cool technique that I am adding to my must-try list! Your cards look phenomenal! Love both versions!
ReplyDeleteThis is AMAZING!! You are queen of the fun techniques!! I LOVE both of these cards!!
ReplyDeleteLove this technique, Loll, and the stamp you used is perfect done that way. I've saved this to try.
