Powdered Inks with Versamark

Hi everyone.  Today I'm sharing a new-to-me technique that Susan, Christine and I did on our play day about a week ago.  We followed the technique written up on THIS BLOG.   Basically, inked up my silhouette stamp with Versamark; brushed on Brusho crystals with a damp paint brush (the brushos stick to the Versamark), then spritz with just a little water and stamp onto either watercolour paper or mixed media paper.

I was really happy with the intense colours.  Adding just a little water means the colours are not diluted.  I used Brushos, but this would work with any powdered inks.

Because there was still lots of ink left on my stamp after my first impression, I did a second pull.  Even the second pull has lots of colour.

I used the left over powdered inks on my palette, diluted with quite a bit of water and splattered over the images.  I stamped a sentiment in dark brown ink to match the stems.  To finish, I placed my card panel back in the misti and stamped the image again in Versamark and heat embossed in clear.

This was fun and a fairly easy technique to try.  I think the success is partly the image you use, so try a few different silhouette images.  I hope you'll give it a try.

These are both so BEAUTIFUL Loll...love the intense color, even on the 2nd pull!! Did you use Brusho's on the stems too, or something else? Lovely, lovely cards!! :0)

Hi Marcia. Yes, I used Brushos on the stems as well. It's important that you only mist lightly with water to activate the brusho crystals, but not end up with a blurred image. Loll :)

I love these easy and really sensational cards, Lolly! The colors stayed vibrant with your light watering, but I have to say, your second pull is my favorite! It's so cool that this technique worked well enough to get two great cards from one inking!! Hugs, Dolly

They turned out beautifully, Loll. I think your addition of the second coat of Versamark and the embossing powder really added to the original technique. I'm going to try it again and do that. They are wonderful autumn notecards!

Oh wow, another fun technique to try. Both of these are just lovely and each one looks so fresh and clean. The second pull is just as beautiful as the first one. Love all the splatters.

Oh my gosh, thanks so much for trying my technique! I have followed you for some time and love your style. I originally did this technique and taught it in Holland where I was at a show representing Magenta. I also posted this on my blog here https://backporchatolympia.blogspot.com/2018/09/magenta-super-saturday-with-dianne.html, with a little more info; and my original post about it with my card I taught in the workshop is here https://backporchatolympia.blogspot.com/2017/03/technique-of-week-painting-your-stamps.html. Your take on this technique is amazing! You have inspired me to go back and find more stamps that will work well with it!

These look fabulous Loll, I really need to give this technique a go. I love how you've got two great prints .... I don't like to waste ink! xx

Another amazing cards, Loll! Great technique, I've already read the tutorial on how it's done. But I have a question, are you applying brushos to the stamp? I know you need to dip the stamp in Versamark, but I'm not sure about applying dye powder.
I have to try this technique because the effect is bewildering, just like your cards, LOLL.
Hugs,
BożenA

Wow Loll, these are stunning! Never knew you could use brusho's this way, but it sounds like lots of fun to do and it sure gave a beautiful and vibrant look! I can't keep up with all the techniques there are so many! I need to make a list of them all. lol This is one I definitely want to try though. Hugs, Brenda

I may have to get a silhouette stamp just to try this, Loll. Getting two cards, and both looking beautiful, is a bonus.

Wowsers, these cards really pack a punch, the splatters do complete this stamp. You must of had so much fun doing this. The second pull is different but equally beautiful to the first. The berries look real and I love the variation yet fluid results. Thank you for the "how-to" details. xx
