It's all starts with the fabulous colour combination of red, white and kraft.  The richly coloured red sleigh looks fun and festive with the brightly coloured packages all tied up with ribbon.  The metal blades of the sleigh are settled into a snow drift with lots of snow falling all around.
A beautiful, creative, winter scene, that makes you feel the excitement and chill in the air!
Congratulations Bonnie!!

T.'s gorgeous ink layered background sparkles, while her beautiful, ornate ornament adds another big punch of colour with lots of dimension and texture.

Oh Christmas Tree!

Hi everyone.  First time inking up this fabulous stamps from Penny Black.

Placed tree stamp in my misti, along with a piece of Mixed Media paper.  Used markers to ink up the stamp, spritzed with a little water and then stamped.  Added too much water, so blotted the image lightly with a paper towel.  Dried it with my heat tool and repeated the inking and spritzing a few more times until I was happy with the colours.

Splattered the background with diluted brown and blue-green inks (same colours used on the tree) and stamped my sentiment in brown.  I like the muted colours of this card.

I decided to use the same stamp, this time with brighter colours.  I used the technique of adding versamark to the image, adding Brushos to the inked stamp, spritzing with just a little water and stamped.  The image turned out really well.  I still had lots of colour left on the stamp so repeated with spritzing a little water and stamping.  I ended up with three prints from the one inking with Brushos.  Below is the second print.  The first one was darker, the third one was lighter.  Three cards in just a few minutes! :)  Gotta love that!  I added some red glitter glue for the tree lights.

November Rudolph Days

Hi everyone.  Today I'm playing along with Rudolph Days.  This is the last challenge of the year.  Thanks to Maureen for running this fun challenge.  I managed to play along each month this year!!

Today's card was an experiment that turned out pretty well.  The background sky was a piece I had in my stash.  Did it ages ago using coated card stock (a gift from my sweet friend, Christine) smooshed with distress inks and Inka Gold (blue sapphire).  Art mediums react differently on the coated card, so it's always interesting to see what happens.  This one is turned out really well and I used the piece to create two cards with this design.

I die-cut the lime green foil using the Evergreen Window Die from Memory Box.  As you can tell by the name, this normally creates a window, but I wanted to try to use it differently.  I die-cut the foil and then fussy cut around the edge to create a thin frame.  Then I layered it with the backing and popped it up foam and then on to the card base.  The stamped sentiment finishes the card.

I used the cast-offs from the die-cut foil piece above, inlaying them into white card stock cut with the same die.  Might be weird to have white trees and a green sky, but I think it looks pretty!  Always great to be able to get an extra card using leftover bits and pieces.

I hope you'll check out the Rudolph Days November Challenge and join us!

Stamps:  Christmas (Gina Marie Designs)
Paper:  White (Neenah 110 lb.); Coated Card stock
Ink:  Distress Inks for smooshing; Salty Ocean for sentiment

Penny Black - Evergreen Tree

Hi everyone.  Today I'm sharing a clean and simple card featuring Penny Black's Evergreen Tree die.

I started with a small panel of mixed media paper, smooshing with Broken China distress ink and lots of water.  Once dry, I layered two pieces of torn which paper for the snow hills (sponged on the edge with more Broken China ink).  The snow hills were die-cut with the scalloped square die from "do not open..." die set.  The smooshed background was also die-cut with the scalloped square and the snow hills were adhered on top, lining up the edges.

Another small panel of mixed media paper was smooshed with two shades of green Brushos.  Once dry, the largest tree in the set was die-cut.  The top layer of the snow tree was die-cut from white card stock four times, adhered together and glued to the backing with the green Brushos.  Crystal Glaze was added to the recessed areas (green) and left to dry.  This give the tree a stained glass look.

More Crystal Glaze was added to the top of the snow hills and all over the snowy part of the tree, then both all were sprinkled with diamond dust.

Once dry, the scalloped square was popped up on foam onto the card base.  The tree was popped up on top of the scalloped square for more dimension.  A sentiment was stamped underneath the square using Broken Glass.

Here's a close-up ...

and here's an even closer look at the shine and sparkle ...

He's everywhere this time of year. :)

Here he is with a little wrapped gift for someone special.  Don't you just love the multi-coloured polka-dot background.  I think it's adorable and perfect with this Santa.

Had so much fun making the above card, I made a second one. :)  This is yet another Santa, and he's jumping for joy! :)

Received these adorable stamped and die-cut images from my dear friend Bonnie.  Just did a quick watercolour with distress inks and zigs.  Then added a bit of blush to his cheeks with red chalk and crystal glaze with diamond dust glitter on top for the brim and pompom.

Still a few days to play along with the challenge before it closes at midnight on Nov. 24th.  Hope to see you in the gallery!

Rainbow Christmas

Hi everyone.  Playing along with STAMPlorations November CAS Challenge - Rainbow.   I do love the look of rainbow coloured skies and thought this would work well with a snowy Christmas scene.

Wet my watercolour paper and used a 1" brush to add strokes of distress ink, overlapping the colours slightly as I moved through the colours of the rainbow.  Once dry, stamp two trees and heat embossed in white.  Tore a piece of white card stock for my snow hill and splattered diluted white acrylic paint over the whole card.  To finish, stamped the sentiment in black for some contrast.

The DT have created some amazing rainbow cards to inspiration.  Check out the challenge and come play along!

Stamps:  Tree Silhouettes, Sentiment - Christmas Candles (both from STAMPlorations)
Paper:  Watercolour (Arches 140 lb. hot press)

Thinking of You

Hi everyone.  One more quick card for the CAS Mix Up November Challenge - Embossing Folder, hosted by Bonnie.

Here's another embossing folder technique that I learned this year.  I did share some cards earlier this year with this fun technique that uses Powdered inks sprinkled onto white mixed media paper, placed inside an embossing folder, and run through a machine to dry emboss the image and embed the powders.  Remove from folder and spritz with water.  The colours explode as they always do when water is added, but having them embedded into the card stock allows some to stay in place and gives lots of deep areas of colour.

I used an embossing folder that came with my die-cutting/embossing machine.  It's really beautiful with deep embossing.  I cut the panel down and added a die-cut butterfly that I received from my friend Bonnie, along with a stamped black banner sentiment and die-cut sentiment.

Easy and fun card to make.

Here's a close-up ...
There's still five days left to play at CAS Mix Up before the challenge closes.  Come join us!  Pull out your embossing folders and have some fun designing a CAS card.
