As I mentioned above, I've used Pearl-Ex powders on this image. Pearl-Ex needs to have a bonding agent to adhere it to card stock. For this card, I stamped the image in Versamark ink on Mixed Media paper and sprinkled with heat and stick powder, which melts to create a sticky surface. I brushed the Pearl-Ex powder over top (Super Russet) and then heat set again to adhere the powders permantly to the card. Once it cooled, I wiped down the card to remove any excess powders.
I watercoloured the image with distress inks. First I added a layer of Ripe Persimmon ink. It looked very dull against the bright colour of the Pearl-Ex image, so I added a second layer of watercolouring over top using a deep red ink (Aged Mahogany) and added Black Soot ink to the center of the flower. I fussy-cut the flower and then realized I had a matching die I could have used. :) Next time I'll save myself a lot of time. :)
The flower is adhered to the card base using just a small piece of double-sided adhesive in the middle of the flower and another on the leaf. This leaves the rest of the image loose and adds just a bit of movement. A simple sentiment stamped in black completes the card.
Below are two close-ups which I hope show more of the beautiful shimmer from these wonderful powders ...

I would never think to do something like this! It's gorgeous and look at all that texture by using Pearl-Ex. So many of us have had it for years. Thanks for the idea to use it this way. Love the color too!

What beautiful deep color to go with the pearl, Loll. I'm so glad Penny Black is making dies now. I just wish I had some for my other stamps of theirs.
I can see the shine and it sure brought this flower to life. It looks like I could bend over and smell it. Those colors are so rich and beautiful. Clean and gorgeous.

Striking and stunning, Loll. Your watercolouring is gorgeous. So impressive how deep and rich you’ve managed to achieve here on this lovely flower. Great use of those rarely used Pearl Ex, too. xx
What an amazing result you achieved here Loll. Such beauty here with the distress inks and that pearl ex powder. It's stunning.
This technique is so cool, thanks for the Pearl-Ex fixative ...I have so many but they just didn't stick :( ...now I know.
Back to this unique rich beauty. There is an elegance to this card which really appeals to me, but it's even more beautiful in person. I think the fussy cutting adds a lot xxx
You had me scratching my head at first Loll, when I read that you had heat embossed with pearl powders. I was thinking how did she do that?! Then I kept reading and I got it! lol I didn't know you could do this, not that I have pearl powders-I think one and it is white. But love that you can and if I ever get some more pearl powders will have to remember this idea. I just love this bloom, it is stunning-a stunning card! I love your watercoloring with the embossed pearl powder outline. So rich and velvety looking! Love, love, love! Hugs, Brenda
Wow, I couldn't put my eyes off this gorgeous flower for a while, Loll! A fantastic choice of the colors of the Pearl-Ex powder and the distress inks! They're so rich and beautiful. Your watercolouring and the shimmer from the powder totally brought the flower to life!
