Hi everyone. Today is the start of the CAS Watercolour April Challenge. I'm hosting this month and I chose a flower that I LOVE to watercolour.
I hope you'll check out the challenge blog to see the gorgeous poppy cards from our wonderful Designers, and our very special Guest Designer, Rachel (Creating Paper Hugs). Then come play along. Make a CAS design with a watercoloured poppy or poppies and join us!
My dear friend, Susan, gave me this image a few years back ... yes, I've neglected it! But no more. I had this in mind when I picked the challenge. It's a vintage image with some script in the background. I stamped the whole thing in soft tan ink, leaving the background as is, and watercolouring just the poppy. I'm happy how it turned out. :)
Here is a close-up ...
Stamps: Vintage Poppy (Crafty Individuals); Many Everyday Messages (Hero Arts)
Paper: Mixed Media (Strathmore 140 lb. 400 Series); Old Olive card stock (SU!)
Ink: Sahara Sand (SU!); Distress Inks: Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, Ripe Persimmon, Barn Door (Tim Holtz)
Accessories & Tools: water brush, fine tip black permanent marker, Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinder)

You chose the perfect Poppy and your watercoloring is absolutely beautiful, Loll! I love the mix of colors on both the petals and leaves and how your background makes them pop! You've inspired me to do some watercoloring...that's for sure! Barb xx
So glad you used that poppy I gave you. I'd thought of using mine but saw yours so chose a different poppy stamp - I realize I have more than enough poppy stamps!! Love how you coloured it - just like the Oriental poppies growing in my garden. And leaving the background plain really let the poppy stand out. Wonderful to see you using a coloured frame and card base!
Beautiful, Loll - Love that persimmon color on poppies!! I really like the text bg and the colored card base too, a grand card!!!
Lovely as can be! Such a pretty flower image! Great text background and pretty colors!
This stamp is awesome, Loll, and even more awesome the way you've added your watercoloring! Love the olive "white" space. It gives the poppy and even richer look! Great challenge, my friend!
I've always admired your skill with watercoloring but this time you hit one out of the park! The detail on your poppy is amazing and at first glance I thought it was a fussy cut print. Outstanding Loll!
Success in commenting!
love the contrast with the beautiful poppy and white background and of course Loll your amazing water colouring :)
Just simply gorgeous Loll, Fabulous stamp and wonderful watercolouring and love that you mounted onto a green card too. I love poppies toooo (no really I love all flowers) but they are so bright and sunny on their long stems and those little furry bud cases...so I have a few poppy stamps to watercolour. Enjoy your day hugs Robyn
I love that vintage stamp and the gorgeous poppy! Beautiful colouring. Great theme:)
Gosh, your watercolouring is beautiful on this gorgeous poppy, Loll ... the bold green really draws the eye to it's loveliness! Hugs, Anita :)
How gorgeous, love that image and the way you watercoloured it....so elegant.

What a beautiful poppy! And, therefore, what a beautiful card. Love the colors and that bit of detail in the background. So pleasing!
What a unique stamp this is with it's own background. Your water color is lovely and vibrant. The green frame compliments it so well.
Such a beautiful image and I love how you water colored just the poppy...so striking against the neutral background! And totally loving the green card base too! Lovely, lovely card my friend and a great challenge!! :0)
Simply beautiful. Gorgeous watercolouring and I love how you've used the green cardstock as the base ..... perfect choice! xx
What a fabulous stamped image and love how you've hi-lighted the poppy so beautifully with the water colouring. The green base card and the frame looks fabulous x
Gorgeous watercolored poppy, Loll. I thought you had stamped a background, but in reading your description discovered it was part of the beautiful stamp:-) I loved your Green frame white space too. TFS my friend. Hugs..Nancy

Beautiful noline watercoloring on that cool poppy image, Lolly, and I love the way you've framed it wide in olive!! Hugs Dolly
BEAUTIFUL watercoloring and designing, Loll. Wow! Hugz
It's like I could pick it right off the card, Loll. Perfect no-line coloring.
Gorgeous and delicate watercoloring of this lovely poppy image, Loll! I love the way you left the highlights and added the black in the center. The Olive Polaroid look frame is fresh and cool!

Simply stunning Loll. Beautifully coloured poppy and the background makes it pop as does your perfectly matched card stock.
This is a stunning card Loll - I don't like green much usually but the base card looks fantastic against your wonderful poppy. I am now a green convert! x
This is gorgeous, Loll. Love the rich colors and your vibrant focal image.
Beautiful inspiration, Loll. I love the colorful card panel, it's rare for you :-) But this deviation looks really amazing.
