Hi everyone. I'm excited to share some cards using the new Penny Black Full Bloom Release! There are some gorgeous stamps, dies, and sentiment stamp sets that you are going to LOVE! I'm starting off with this beautiful planter full of blooms (golden dance 30-562). The card below also uses a sentiment stamp from the new release (special sentiments 30-574).
This is a very simple image to watercolour. I started by stamping in black ink and clear heat embossing the line image. I watercoloured using Distress Inks (Worn Lipstick for the flowers; Peeled Paint for the leaves; and Black Soot for the planter). I used a little more Black Soot to add a shadow at the bottom.
The same green ink was diluted and used to splatter the background. The sentiment (LOVE the font!) is stamped in black and heat embossed in clear so it matched the same intensity as the main image.

I had to keep playing with this beautiful image, so I made a second card. I used the same stamp (golden dance 30-562) and a different sentiment stamp, but from the same stamp set used above (special sentiments 30-574).
The flower heads are watercoloured using Carved Pumpkin Distress Ink, and the leaves are the same as above, using Peeled Paint.
The frame is popped up on foam for added dimension. The sentiment is stamped several times in Shabby Shutters Distress ink. Using Peeled Paint would have made it too dark.

Love the row of red poppies Loll. My field poppies sent oceans of seed out onto the borders last summer so there are lots of plants to come into flower in a few weeks time. :)

ReplyDeleteWow Loll, both of these cards are stunning and so classy! I love your coloring, I need to practice coloring with distress inks, although I doubt I will be any better with them than I am with the Zigs! lol But you are a pro for sure and I love these cards! Hugs, Brenda

Brilliant twofers, Loll. You’ve really featured this stamp’s versatility. Fabulous masking on the second. Both beautifully coloured. xx
ReplyDeleteA galvanized bucket is my preferred way to plant and these darling blooms look good in their 'pot', Loll. I love the soft watercoloring on the first card and the multiple stamping on the second.
ReplyDeleteSooooo gorgeous, Loll ... both of them! Love the soft simplicity of the blooms in the bucket (love that font on the sentiment too!) ... and you really did have this image living up to it's Golden Dance name on your second card ... a meadow full of poppies ... beautiful! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful watercolor card. I love the spotting, it looks like the dandelion seed is floating in the air. A wonderful, delicate card. The second card is equally adorable, your flower window looks wonderful in warm shades of orange. And masking is perfect, it's hard to know that you used one stamp for both cards.
ReplyDeletehugs,
BożenA
Loving both card and the softness of the colours. Great adding the "spots" on one and the "framing" on the second. Terrific job and two awesome beauties xx
