I started by pulling out a paper towel transfer background my from stash. I keep many of my mop-up paper towels and then transfer the colour (and quilted pattern) onto mixed media paper.
I stamped the image in black ink and clear heat embossed. This is watercoloured with zigs, with a little black soot distress ink used for shading. I die-cut using the matching die and also cut out the same from a piece of mounting foam. They were glued together and this is popped up on top of the sentiment banner, which is the negative from a love die-cut (dreams ... cut out 51-529).
Here's a close-up ...
For my second card, I used the same stamp and die set as I mentioned above. This time it's two sweet bears.
The bears are watercoloured with Distress Inks, then die-cut from the matching die (love & cuddles cut out 51-542). Mounting foam was also die-cut for each bear and adhered to add thickness. I wanted something different for the background, so went with embossing folder stamping using the same inks used on the bears (brown, pink, yellow) with a woodgrain embossing folder.
A wonderful birthday sentiment (special sentiments 30-574) was stamped in black ink and then the bears were popped up on top. Added just a little sparkle with clear wink of stella on the flower and frosting, plus crystal glaze to give shine to the heart decoration on the cupcake.

These are so sweet, Loll. Your backgrounds are fun and interesting, but those images are adorable. Your craft room must be like a magic hat where you keep pulling out backgrounds and techniques one after the other. :) Love!
ReplyDeleteThis is a darling PB stamp set. The elephant card is so sweet with mama holding her baby. Your paper towel background is great and the shading on the elephants is so subtle. Your backgroound on the bear card is so unusual and pretty. Also wonderful coloring on the bears.
ReplyDeleteThese are sooooo darling! Love them both!
ReplyDeleteTwo oh so cute and FABULOUS cards Loll! I just literally ordered the stamp set about 10 minutes ago after seeing what Patti Kehl did with it, and now I have even more ideas after seeing both of your adorable cards!! The mama and baby elephant is so sweet and love the paper towel background and the bottom die cut sentiment! And your two bears card is also as cute as can be, and love how you did your background there too! Wonderful inspiration my friend...thank you!! :0)

Loll! these are so darn sweet!! I just love the delightful scenes and gorgeous backgrounds you painted!!
ReplyDeleteThe elephants are so sweet, Loll, and colored beautifully. I love the little bears too. They look like one I have but I don't have a die. I'm so glad PB is now making dies to go with images like these.
ReplyDeleteAww, both cards are sooo sweet, Loll! Your coloring makes the images look much more adorable. The soft paper towel transfer background is perfect for this sweet scene, and so is the embossing folder stamped background with the matching colors for the second card. I wish PB sold these colored images (so all I have to do is to die-cut them. ;-P)!
ReplyDeleteHideko xx
You really brought these adorable critters to life with your coloring on these delightful designs, Lolly! They are so hugable! And I love the way you did each background!! Hugs, Dolly

ReplyDeleteSorry to have missed so many of your gorgeous makes Loll, but have been away and was so busy catching up with things before I left that I am ashamed to say I have missed too many to properly catch up, but these bears caught my eye as they are so so cute, and the inked embossing folder technique with those pretty colours is the perfect backdrop. Wonderful light and shade on the bears too. x
ReplyDeleteI did not realise that the sweet elephants are also in the same post...silly me! They are adorable too and love the black border which gives them some grounding and the die cut sentiment stands out perfectly. x
ReplyDeleteThese are some of the most beautiful children's cards. I love the sweet picture with elephants, they are so sweet. The second card has a stunning background, colorful jars of trees look amazing. Great projects.
