It's hard to tell in the photo above, but the close-up below shows that the background is dry embossed with a woodgrain design. The scalloped circle die was taped down to the folder and run through the big shot with a card front and silicone mat. It dry embossed the scalloped edge and the circle. We also cut a mask from the scalloped circle, removed the center and placed the background mask over the embossed card front so that the scallops lined up and just the center was open. I sponged yellow, orange and purple inks on an angle, then splattered with water to add a bit of texture and interest. The silhouette image and sentiment are stamped in black and heat embossed in clear so they stand out more.
Here's the close-up ...
Stamps: Meadow (Inkadinkado); A Little Sentimental (Clearly Besotted)
Paper: White card stock (Neenah 110 lb.)
Ink: Distress inks: Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon, Wilted Violet (Tim Holtz); Black (Memento)
Accessories & Tools: Scallop Circle Solid Die (unknown); Woodgrain Embossing Folder (SU!), masking paper, clear embossing powder (Ranger), heat tool
This is so cool Loll! I didn't realize it was one layer until you explained and I saw the close up...will have to give this technique a try! :0)
ReplyDeleteI love how you finished your die and dry embossed card front, Loll. Beautifully sponged background for your stamped wildflowers. We all had so much fun with this technique at our retreat. I still need to finish my card front into a finished card. You have me inspired. Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteThanks for describing another really slick technique. I am die cut challenged believe it or not. I went to her blog and saw her directions so thanks too for her link. I may have to give this a try. Love the beautiful gradient you created for your silhouette on your card. This turned out so beautifully and love that you were able to cut the aperture into that fabulous double embossing.

ReplyDeleteThere is so much dimension there that it doesn't look like a one layer card, Loll. Great technique.
