Hi everyone. Here is my card for the CAS Stencil July Challenge - Alcohol Inks / Alcohol Inks Lift, hosted by our wonderful Cathy (Cathy's Card Spot). We are excited to have Janet (Swanlady Impressions) as our Guest Designer this month.
I have had this sunflower stencil for a little while and was itching to use it. :) I pulled out a piece of alcohol ink background that I made many months ago ... just a few different shades of blue smooshed onto Yupo and then drops of blending solution added to give it some character.
I placed the stencil over top of my panel, so only one corner of the stencil was over top. I taped it down securely. Using a sponge dauber and blending solution, I added just a drop to my dauber, taking off a bit on paper towel before going over the stencil. This removes the colour that is already there, leaving me with a light blue background. I had to do it about three times, using very little of the solution as I didn't want it to seep under the stencil. Once I was happy (very light blue colour), I used four colours of Alcohol Inks to add to the stencil to create my colourful sunflower, again using a sponge dauber to apply the ink. It worked better than I thought it would. Love when that happens! Framed it with a black border on two sides and stamped a sentiment in black to match.
This card has both techniques of adding alcohol inks and lifting alcohol inks through a stencil. :) For the challenge, you can choose one or the other.
Here's a close-up ...
This was a lot of fun and looking to play with this technique again.
Come join us for this fun challenge! Hope to see you in the gallery!

How clever you are Loll with how this card turned out with the AI inking and lifting. I hope to get outside and have a play day with my neglected AI's.
ReplyDeleteThis was so interesting, Lolly! I never thought about reinking the area after the AI had been lifted! Great idea and gorgeous sunflower design!! Hugs, Dolly
ReplyDeleteWell this is special. You come up with these beautiful new approaches. Genius I say. I love the design on this card with the two sided black border and sentiment to compliment. Beautiful! xx
ReplyDeleteYou just added another dimension to this challenge - jawdroppingly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYes, that's the kind of technique that I fail at all. You are a champion in it. You say it's fairly simple, but I always get ink under the stencil. It's nice that I can admire such a beautiful card.
