I will miss being on the DT with the other team members ... they are all so lovely! A special thanks to Darnell for giving me this opportunty to be one of the Twofer Designers for 1 1/2 years.
You know how much I love flowers, so had to play along! :)
You know how much I love flowers, so had to play along! :)
The challenge is to create two different garden cards for two different occasions, using the same stamp, die, or stencil. Please make sure to take a photo of your two cards together and use that as your entry to the gallery.
I was way out of my comfort zone for my first card ... hardly any white space! I started with a magicals background I had in my stash. I stamped the garden image in black and clear embossed. I then used bleach to remove the colour from the flowers, birdhouses, birds, and leaves. Once finished, I went back and watercoloured those same images with distress inks.
I cut up the panels, one thicker for the sentiment and two thinner ones at the top, just to give more interest to the card. :) Honestly, that took me the most time with making this card. :)
Here's a close-up ...
For my second card I used the same image and stamped onto mixed media paper. Figured out where I wanted to crop it for framing and cut it down to size. Watercoloured using watercolour pencils, taking the colour from the tip of the pencil with my paint brush (Darnell shared this great tip with us at our retreat --- thanks Dolly!). Easy, peasy and done quicky. Framed and added sentiment.
Here's the close-up ...
As always, the Design Team and wonderful Guest Designers, Kathy and Robyn, have provided lots of amazing inspiration. Come play along! The challenge is open until end of day, July 24th.

Wow, Loll I almost didn't recognize the first card. You did an amazing job covering the page even though you were out of your comfort zone. It is a beautiful card, love it. And the second one is adorable. Two great cards.
Vibrant and colourful first 'out of your comfort zone' card Loll and I love it! x Love how you bleached out some of the colour and then painted different colours back in.....such a stunning design and so creative x. Delicate and pretty second card and thank you for the amazing inspiration x.
Sorry to see you leave the DT at The Twofer and you will be sorely missed my friend x.
It's lovely of you to play along, Lolly! It's like having you still on the Team as a designer! You should create more all-over scenes like on your first cut-up design. Your watercoloring is magazine-worthy! And I'm glad you enjoyed painting with your pencils, too, for a softer color result. Love the way the frame draws the eye right to the center of the beautiful garden image! Hugs, Dolly
Lovely garden cards, Loll!! Love the pretty colors with the birds and flowers! Wonderful pretty green background on the first card and very unique design! Well done!!
Both of these are so beautifully painted. I love the unique presentation of the first one. I'd never think of cutting the panels like that. The softer colors on the second one are just wonderful. Great cards.
Loll, your cas cards are always stunning...so this departure for you on the first card...WOW I just want to go sit in that garden and watch the birds. I love the amount of color and image size you gave to your second card its a lush beauty. Thank you so much for playing along at Twofer Challenge #18.
Two amazing garden cards, Loll! I love how you bleached the design and added the watercolor! A beautiful piece and your splits add wonderful image! That's the scariest part for me! Your simpler piece with the soft watercolor is a sharp contrast to the first card but so lovely! Wonderful shading!
OMG..Gorgeous garden cards, Loll. So glad you played along. Your 1st card with Magicals background, Heat EB flowers, Color Lifting, DI watercoloring and Cut Up images is STUNNING!!!
Loved your 2nd card with the stamped and colored with watercolor pencils is so beautiful too. You used so many beautiful techniques on both your beauties. TFS my friend. Hugs...Nancy
Two really sweet cards, Loll! Beautiful watercoloring on all those pretty blooms and lovely garden elements! I also love how you used your Magicals and bleach on the first card...very clever!
I'm so happy that you'll be playing along this month, even though I'll miss you on the team :) You always know how to inspire me to play along, my friend...Thanks! Barb xx
Two beautiful cards Loll, I love that cut up, bleached watercoloured image. We learned so much at the retreat:) I also love the same image in such a CAS way :)
Terrific twofers, Loll. The first one may not be CAS, but it is jam packed with awesome techniques and looks incredible. Both are watercolored beautifully. xx
Fabulous Twofer cards Loll, great garden stamp and beautifully watercoloured... nice vibrant colours with the DI on the first and lovely soft shades with the pencils on your second.
Both beautiful, great designs and colours
Faith
Amazing Twofer Loll - love the way you cut the image on the first on to 'fill' the size of your card - that's amazing. The smaller framed image is exquistie too.
Blessings
Maxine
Two super cards Loll. It's good to be taken outside our comfort zones on occasion, and your first card just shows what you can do when you challenge yourself! Love the idea of the bleaching of the background to create the background to colour the flowers. :)
Two amazing cards, Loll! I especially love the way you incorporated a pre-made background to your scene in the first card. Also the way you cut the panel is super inventive and creative! Sending hugs! xxx
Your cards are beautiful as always. Will miss having you on the design team. Hope you do a guest card once on a while though. Thanks for all the past ideas. Edna
The background on your first card is indeed magical! And that garden...!!! It looks like a summer day on a card! This is really beautiful! Your second card is equally beautiful. I hadn't thought to use this technique for years, but now I'm itching to get my pencils out again and work with them. Perfect little sentiment on your card. Adds just the right amount and doesn't take away from the eye candy of your garden! So, so lovely. Glad you're in the gallery, Loll. Your work is always amazing. xo Bev
Two FABULOUS cards Loll! Your 1st card blows me away...all that beautiful water coloring on the flowers and birdhouse and the lovely magicals background...and then the cutting of the panel...SO STRIKING!! And your 2nd card is just a pretty with all the wonderful coloring and the framing! Two lovely, lovely cards my friend!! :0)
Wow, these are great. I love how you divided the first card. It's like a puzzle with four pieces even I could work. What a fantastic idea to do this. Framing the second one made a lovely piece of art. Love em' both.
Such charming gardens, Loll! The magicals background on the first makes this fabulous scene really lush and verdant! The frame on the smile card gives me the impression of looking out from a country cottage ... lovely colouring ... so delightful! Hugs, Anita :)
Bright, colorful, and happy garden twofer cards, Loll! Breaching out the magical colors was worth the time to show the colors of watercolor this beautifully. Love the cool design. The watercolor pencil coloring is very pretty too.
Hideko xx
Oh Loll, these cards make me want to pull out the watercolors! I love your birthday card with its bright cheerful colors! So clever to use bleach, and your cut up panels are so artistic! I also love the clean white background and frame on your second card that really make those colors pop!
Maybe a first for filling the whole card, all I have to say bravo for the work and design. The second one is so very different but equally beautiful. I don't think any style is out of your comfort zone. Two very beautiful cards dear friend! xx
Beautiful cards, Loll! Love the "splits" you did on the first card and wow! what time-tasking process of removing the magicals, then reo-coloring the images -- great outcome tho! The second is just as pretty, and looks perfect in the pretty frame!
Glad we still get to see you around too!
OMG, these cards are so pretty and fun! LOVE the PB stamp so much! Your designs are awesome and that background on the birthday card -- wow! I'm playing catch up after being away camping for a week, so a little late getting here. We'll miss you on the team, but you'll probably be happy to cut back somewhat. It's hard to keep up with all this stuff, especially in the summer (for me, at least). Luckily I know where to find you and your beautiful cards!
Two beautiful cards! I especially like your second card with the frame!
