So the trick is to ink your image well with the Alcohol Ink Lift Pad and once stamped, the "lift" formula leaves a lot behind and your image is quite wet. Make sure to blot it well or dry it thoroughly before buffing the image (with paper towel or cloth) to get the best result.
We decided to go a step further and use the ink lifted from the image to create a second image. So I inked my flowers with the Lift Pad, stamped onto the alcohol inked Yupo paper, added a piece of plain card stock on top and stamped again, transferring the ink as well as absorbing any "lift" solution with the back of the card panel. I did this about three times per image. The result above is awesome! And below is the image I made from my lifted alcohol ink ...
A true Twofer! :) I'm really happy with them both.
So I did a second set using different colours ...
... and the lifted ink image ...
Now that I know you need to make sure the first image is completely dry before buffing, it makes more sense. Repeat stamping always removes more ink and makes your image stand out better.
Thanks for the help Christine!

ReplyDeleteyour cards are really wonderful, Loll - will have to try doing the alcohol lift again as my first tries were not very successful - maybe I was too impatient.
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful cards Loll. I could not get the hang of the Lift Ink Pad at all... so will now give it another go! x
ReplyDeleteAs you say Loll, awesome cards.

Both your alcohol ink lift alcohol inked background cards and stamped cards turned out beautifully, Loll. You should create a video, my friend. TFS your cards and tips. Thank you Christine for sharing with Loll:-) Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Nancy. If you could do a video for us using this technique I think we'd all be grateful. Reading is one thing but seeing is a much better option. Your cards are super nice. My fav is the first,
ReplyDeleteI had mixed results too...and finally figured out to let the piece dry..for a while. You'd think, though, that we shouldn't have had to be so frustrated from the beginning...just give us correct instructions! I saw a few videos that said, "immediately" wipe off the ink...not true! It is a nice technique...when you know how!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are lovely and thanks for "correct" method!
Amazing results, Loll! This technique is so much fun when you get the right combination of inking and buffing! And stamping onto white cardstock after lifting gives an amazing image! Wish I could have played with you guys!
ReplyDeleteWhat excellent results you achieved with the Lift ink. Thanks for all the tips in your post. My pad still had not been used. Love this idea and love the extra print you did with the lifted image. Thanks for the inspiration and for the reminder to get out my alcohol ink again!
ReplyDeleteYour perseverance paid off Loll as your cards are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! I do like the 1st cards better just because of the vibrancy of the color, but the 2nd stamping cards are lovely as well! I've never bought one of the lift pads but maybe I need to give it a try! Lovely, lovely cards my friend!! :0)
ReplyDeleteOh, so gorgeous!! Love all the cards, so pretty!! You inspired me to try this technique once again, so fun!!
ReplyDeleteI've not had good results with the lift ink. At first I thought it was the fact I used Copic refill but it was the same when I bought some of the right stuff! Thanks for the tip, I must persevere and hopefully get the same result as yours! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your explanation - I have bought some Alcohol lift ink - I assume you used a Misti or equivalent to be able to repeat stamp?
ReplyDeleteYour results are awesome!!
Blessings
Maxine
