Lots of Quick Christmas Cards

Hi everyone.  I took a couple of days and die-cut several new or fairly new die-cuts from white card stock.  Then I rifled through my stash of backgrounds ... all different colours, mediums, etc. to match up with the images.  I put them together, added a simple stamped sentiment ... and ended up with lots of cards for my stash and for the stash that I donate each year.

The card above is a die-cut from AliExpress with the circle with holly and snowflake flourish.  It's backed with a piece of alchol inks (green / blue) on acetate.

Next up uses a sweet framed "joy" sentiment from Memory Box.  I backed it with a piece of alcohol inks (red / pink) on acetate that has been backed with scrunched white tissue paper.  The tissue adds lots of visual texture

The next card is an AliExpress die, with a background of smooshed Lindy's Magicals (blue / purple).  There's quite a bit shimmer, but it doesn't pick up in the photo.

The card below is a snowflake block die-cut from Simon Says Stamp.  It's backed with a piece of alcohol ink'd (blues/greens) acetate, which is backed with white copy paper).

The next card is a Holly Triptych die from Simon Says Stamp.  It's backed with a smooshed piece of Lindy's Magicals (green / blue).  Again, lots of shimmer, but not in the photo. :)

The card below is a Penny Black die called In the Winter.  It's backed with a piece of paper towel that I used for watercolouring (wiping my brush off when changing colours).  I loved the colours and thought it would make a beautiful background ... and it did! :)

And the final card I'm sharing had a boo-boo. :)  The die is Sensational Snowflake die from Simon Says Stamp.  It is backed with a piece of smooshed distress inks.  I had to cut up the card and remount the strip onto a fresh card base, with a silver embossed sentiment.  It's pretty, but not as pretty as it would have been as one piece.  I learned "not" to stamp versamark, sprinkle with embossing powder and then walking away.  The versamark dries and it won't heat emboss nicely after that.  Now I know to heat emboss right away. :)

I also want to give a shout out to my friend, Jenny.  She recently made a card using this same die, using a silver metallic pen to colour the snowflakes - so clever!  I tried it out and it makes it so easy!  I will definitely be doing this again.  Thanks Jenny!!

  12. Loll - These are beautiful! I love the use of the alcohol ink backgrounds. I have that joy die from MB, but it doesn't have a holly branch with it. Is this a different die or did you use another and add it?

  15. This is a response to Jen6425. I did add an extra die-cut holly sprig at the top of the Joy square frame. I felt it needed just a little something. Loll :)

  17. A fab set of cards for your stash, I really must get a wiggle on as my box is quite low on the Christmas variety!
Your little pooch is gorgeous, looks like butter wouldn't melt. Ours is driving us mad as he tries to protect the world with his barking, 7 yrs old and mad as a box of frogs!:)

Thanks for the Versamark/embossing tip. You did wonderful damage control on rearranging that card and no one would be the wiser if you didn't say. I love the pictures of all the dogs together. Jessie looks so tiny in comparison. Miss you guys.

  27. Hi! Remember me? !!! I have gone back and back and back from the front door, thinking I'd start from where I left off leaving comments and I'm appalled at how many posts I've met! I'm sorry, Lolly, but I know you understand. I've come back to this most incredible post as my all-encompassing comment. Thank you so much for all the wonderful inspiration for using those dies and backgrounds I have! Mwah! And, of course, I especially LOVED the photo of all the hounds together! What a terrific photographic fete to get that shot! Alex is SO good! Jessie is a bit outside the chorus line, but, hey, she's just a puppy!! Hugs, Dolly xxoo
