Hi everyone. Sharing more cards using images from Penny Black's Merry and Joy release. This time I've used images from the set all the trimmings (30-618).
First, I used the largest stamp from the set. This is a gorgeous image and I had fun trying out two different ways to use the stamp.
For the card above, I stamped the image onto my card front in black ink and then heat embosed with clear embossing powder. Distress inks (Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Gathered Twigs) were used to watercolour most of the image, just using Stampin' Up! dye ink, Real Red, to get that punch of colour. To finish the card, I stamped a sentiment from another of the new releases, merry up (30-622). The final step was to splatter the whole card with diluted white acrylic paint.

Second card involves some fussy-cutting ...
I started the same way as the above card, stamping the image in black onto mixed media paper and heat embossing with clear. Distress inks (Mowed Lawn, Forest Moss, Gathered Twigs, Peacock Feathers, Chipped Sapphire) were used to watercolour the image and then it was fussy-cut. Takes a bit of time to cut this one out, but I think it was worth it.
Found a piece of smooshed background in my stash that was the right colours. Stamped a three part sentiment from another new stamp set, merry builder (30-619), in black and heat embossed in clear to match the image. Popped up the panel with foam for added dimension, then adhered the fussy-cut image off to one side.

For the card above, I first cut a panel from mixed media paper, to fit the frame. I repeat stamped the image three times to fill most of the panel, using permanent black ink. I heat set before watercolouring with distress inks. Splattering was added as a finishing touch, along with dots of white on the berries from a paint pen. The image was framed with the stitched loop frame. This time I lined it with olive green card stock so you can see that through the tiny hole design. I needed a small one-word sentiment, so used the same sentiment stamp I used for the first card above, but masked off the other words so that just "Merry" was stamped in black. The panel is popped up on an olive card base for more dimension.

I hope you've enjoyed my cards using just two of the beautiful images from this set.

Wow Loll these are all gorgeous using this lovely PB set with the pretty foliage and berries and both colour ways look great and with some wonderful fussy cutting on the second too, also love the look using just the leaves and berries. x
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I got to see these IRL, gorgeous watercolouring on those great stamp sets :)
ReplyDeleteA trio of fabulous samples for this stamp, Loll. Beautifully watercolored and designed. No surprise, my favourite is the blue one! Amazing fussy cutting once again. 💙
ReplyDeleteAll three of these are beautiful, Loll but that second card just mesmerized me. You mentioned a little fussy cutting. That is an understatement. Very few of use would have attempted that you are right- it's worth it. They all are painted so perfectly too. Sigh, someday I'll make friends with watercolor.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards. [Bunny]`
ReplyDeleteLoving these new PB sets Loll, your cards are wonderful....scrolling down admiring your red one and wow then there's a fabulous blue one too... gorgeous designs for both of them.... AND then there was another.. lovely use of the berry branch combining the red and green and that super die cut frame... love them all hugs Robyn
ReplyDeleteTwo equally beautiful colour variations with the first stamp you used! Love the splatter on one of them. And the second image works perfectly with the lovely frame.
ReplyDeleteAll three cards are gorgeous and colored so beautifully, Loll! This is a wonderful showcase of the new stamp set.
ReplyDeleteThe red really pops surrounded by the beautiful shades of green and brown.
Love the dimension of the blue one and the excellent fussy-cutting! The smooshed background piece you found in your stash is perfect!
You came up with a fabulous design, arranging the placement of the stamped images for the 3rd card. The olive green peeking through the tiny holes of the frame is so pretty.

What fabulous colouring of the image Loll - and gorgeous cards too. Love how you have put green behind the frame of the last card to accent the wee die cut border
